CBS has us in Annapolis playing Georgia Tech. That would be a fun match, just not a fun venue.

Annapolis is a great venue.

There are bars all over downtown...you have the Naval Academy, a ton of historic buildings, Washington and Baltimore within an easy drive, great restaurants, great water views...it is really a great place.

I just took my son to visit USNA, Annapolis is an amazing place. However, weather might not be perfect when this game would be played.

yes, I was basing my post on the weather. I'm sure it is a great place at other times.

Hmmmm, play the Rambling Wreck in 36 degree blustery conditions in Annapolis OR play BYU in 72 degree balmy conditions near South Beach? Lemme ponder this a bit.

Is there any scenario that would land us in the Liberty Bowl?

I was wondering that as well. There are usually some clauses that get tucked away that may allow it. (Like being able to pick a team from another conference every few years.) if either Memphis or Ecu finish really strong and one ends up in the access, the liberty would love to have the other one. Probably Ucf too for that matter. Im just not sure how likely it would be, or if it would even be possible.

I think that the American Conference is the alternate for the Liberty Bowl, so I'm assuming that if there were not enough bowl eligible BigXII teams or SEC teams, then they would be able to select a bowl eligible team from the American. So basically there would have to be numerous pieces fall into place for Memphis to play in the Liberty Bowl in it's current format. Its a shame, we finally have a chance to contend in the conference and get a shot to play a bowl in front of the hometown crowd, and it is the year that the LB drops the AAC... I still have hope that one day we'll see the Tigers get to play in the LB though.

True...although Annapolis is not North Dakota, certainly greater chance for cold weather than Florida.

Would be happy to return to the St. Pete Bowl.

I don't really want Memphis to go to the Liberty Bowl.

I get to see the Tigers at the LB several times a year already. If this season really does break the right way (and there are alot of 'ifs' to still overcome) then I hope the bowl ends up some place like Atlanta or Miami. Somewhere new to watch Memphis play.

RE: Latest Bowl Projections
There is a way for us to play in the Liberty Bowl, but it's a long shot, b/c the LB gets such a high choice from the SEC, which we are backing up.

However, there's always a chance the LB could swap for us with another bowl, although I don't think it's a good shot, at all.

IIRC, the LB will get somewhere between the #5 and #8 SEC pick. With 14 teams, you know the SEC will qualify 8 teams. But if the LB gets 8th pick, they MIGHT swap for us.

Yeah, I don't see that happening. The only way I see us in the LB is as a last resort. The LB folks like bringing in hotel business for the week. We don't give them that...

I don't see it happening, either. That's why I said it was not a good shot. But I listed it, b/c the question was, "Is there ANY WAY we could wind up in the LB?"

Technically, that's a way.

Yeah, I've always thought it would be kind of gay to play in the hometown bowl, but I understand the desire for those who can't travel and to have a huge Tiger crowd.

Good lord. You are a grown man. Surely you can come up with a better way to express your feelings about something.

When I post from my phone, I can't text gehy without it turning to hey or eggy. So I have to say gay. I hope nobody minds.
