I'm not trying to start a flame war here. But I absolutely hate USF, have since they were in CUSA. I know historically USF has had ECU's number and for that reason Im not about to spew how we will own USF. But I will get a certain bit of extra happiness if the score is embarrassing in our favor. Since becoming a ECU there are some in this conference and CUSA I have tremendous respect for. USF is not one of them, while I root for everyone in the conference when ECU isn't playing them.... I find myself rooting slightly less for USF and I look at USF almost in the same vain as I do NC State on how they treated UCF.

I truly hope its a massacre, unlike many of my ECU bretheren, I am cautiously optimistic on every school on our schedule, and know how hard each game in the American is going to be. Id say top to bottom year in and year out this conference is going to have some of the most parity in the country, and every school in this conference has recruited some decent talent. I see a perfectly good thread quickly running off the rails....

You know if we take all the chips on the shoulder types on these boards, harnessed their bitterness into a couple hundred page novel describing how all these poor defenseless programs were victimized by a newbie Division I-A program....I guarantee it would be a best seller in Greenville, Memphis, Orlando and any other C-USA/AAC school that loves good fiction.

I'll say this about ECU/USF bickering online. The fact that they got into the Big East with zero football history has really soured a lot of ECU fans on their program. To make matters worse almost every ECU fan I've heard who was at the Birmingham Bowl vs USF several years back has said they had the rudest most classless fans they've every come across and that's really saying something. Basically rubbing our faces in their Big East membership. From another board...

I certainly used to be bitter about USF passing by ECU in the college football landscape, but you guys did us a favor a few years later we didn't even realize at the time and hired Skippy away so I'd say that makes us square.

...then I went to the New Orleans bowl and met Ragin Cajun fans... omg.

USF is now absolved of any wrongdoing.

This is great for me, because one of these teams has to lose.

Are you talking about message boards, someone you met in the parking lot, or what? I wasn't at that game, and wasn't on message boards back then. Honestly, every fan base has it's problems. I'm sure you know that. I've worn green to away games and had my share of negatives, but I really try and remember among any fanbase it's usually a small minority that behave badly. And of course, alcohol doesn't help...

It was a few different groups of young Bulls fans. Probably in their early 20's. They were wearing homemade shirts with obscenities about ECU on them... they shouted F-bombs at us constantly throughout the tailgate, and then we were lucky enough to be sat near a few of them during the game, and it continued. I realize it wasn't every USF fan there, but there were maybe 20 or so of them that made a trip to an ALREADY undesirable city even worse.

But they were nothing compared to the drunk U-La-La fans I met in New Orleans! Also the UCONN fans at the Meinike Car Care Bowl game in Charlotte were bad, too. (I was with my family, who are Wake Forest fans) But I know they were students in that instance.

It always puzzles me when general comments like that are made regarding an entire fanbase, where a few idiots somehow represent the all fans. Did this person’s wife meet me and my wife or the rest of the people in my group? We had a lot of great conversations with ECU fans ranging from making fun of Leavitt’s hair to the great a fishing and golf we are spoiled with in the Tampa Bay area. Who knew those were topics so vulgar and rude….

Actually….the worst part of that trip was the two “must go to” BBQ joints in the area, Dreamland and Jim N’ Nicks running out of food during the two days leading up to the bowl game. That was REALLY tragic!

While it sucks to be lumped into one category with other idiots, you can't act like you don't know what everyone complains about when talking about USF's fanbase. It's not just "a few idiots".

USF fans are by far the worst I've encountered, and this is coming from someone who grew up in Miami going to Canes games my whole life. The stuff I've seen at UM/FSU and UM/UF games is just horrible and made my family members stop going to games. And after all that I still believe USF fans are the worst I've been around.

That doesn't mean YOU are a bad fan or an ******* starting fights, but from my experience (and seemingly others as well) the generalization holds true.
