AAC Bowl Tie-ins
I am excited that I'm having to find out as opposed to other years, but what are the bowl tie-ins this year? (including other possibilities if conferences aren't able to fill them)

RE: AAC Bowl Tie-ins
If the American champion finishes as the highest-ranked team among the champions of Conference USA, the Mountain West Conference, the Mid-American Conference and the Sun Belt Conference but AAC team doesnt qualify for the College Football Playoff, then it would participate in one of the three Host Bowls that will comprise part of the CFP rotation:

Cotton Bowl,
Chick-fil-A Bowl
Fiesta Bowl.

U of M never been to the Liberty Bowl. Does U of M have any exceptions getting into the LB?
I think this needs to happen one day. With all the history of the LB U of M should be a part of it. Out of town money, rules etc should b put on hold and put the Tigers in the Liberty bowl if they go 7-5 or 8-4 .

It needs to happen

Is this the order the bowls get to pick teams?

If not enough bowl eligible teams from the conferences making up the Liberty Bowl are available then the LB can pick whoever they want. Liberty Bowl is SEC vs Big 12 according to the Liberty Bowl website.

RE: AAC Bowl Tie-ins
Based on Marshall's probable undefeated run through one of the easiest schedules in the history of college football here's what I'm hoping for:

ECU wins the rest of its games and gets the G5 spot in the big boy bowls.

We win out and get our choice of the AAC bowls.

The AAC champion (outside of the G5 spot) doesn't have a home or really even a good bowl to play in.

For now it will change year to year based on the best of the less than stellar match ups listed above.

Unless I've misunderstood the process I don't think there's an opportunity for our conference champion to play any of top 4 teams from any of the P5 conferences........

I think you're correct. Would like to play in the bowl we have against SEC. Maybe UTK.

The Miami Beach Bowl (newly created, owned & operated by the AAC) opponent will most likely be BYU this year. My first choice this year is the B'ham Bowl (close with "P-5" opponent). Second choice is the bowl in Ft Worth vs a Big 12 team (what a statement we could make to that conference by sending a huge crowd there and beating one of their teams). No matter which bowl we play in, I will be there and I hope Tiger nation is smart and loyal enough to make the same commitment. In order to have a "big-time" football program, we have to have big-time fan support.

I'd like the Armed Forces Bowl because its on Jan. 2 with a bunch of other games. The Birmingham one is on Jan. 3 right before the NFL playoffs. There would be zero highlights available to the viewing public.

Florida or Fort Worth, please.

Forget the slums of Birmingham. Forget Annapolis. Forget begging for scraps from the Liberty Bowl.

My preferences in order: Access Bowl, Miami, St. Petersburg, Fort Worth.

As GA said, I'll be there wherever the TIGERS go.

The Miami Beach Bowl will likely be vs. BYU this year.
