Conference Champions
LSU 13-0 (#2 Alabama)-Contract Bowl
Oregon 11-2 (#3 Stanford)-Contract Bowl
Clemson 10-3 (#5 Virginia Tech)-Contract Bowl
TCU 10-2 (#5 Boise St.)-G5 Autobid
Southern Miss 11-2 (#7 Houston)
Oklahoma St. 11-1(#8 Texas A&M)-Contract Bowl
Wisconsin 11-2 (#8 Nebraska)-Contract Bowl

Division Champions
Stanford 11-1 (#20 USC)
Virginia Tech 11-2 (#20 Georgia Tech)
Houston 12-1 (None)

Non Champions
Arkansas 10-2 (#10 South Carolina)
Alabama 11-1 (#12 Florida)
Kansas St. 10-2 (#15 Baylor)
Michigan 10-2 (#16 Nebraska)
South Carolina 10-2 (#18 Clemson)
Boise St. 11-1 (#22 Georgia)

You have 16 schools under 2 losses in 2011 trying to get into 12 CFP bowls. I will first rank these schools by highest quality win and then second by record.

Quality Wins

1) Southern Miss 11-2 (#7 Houston)
2) Arkansas 10-2 (#10 South Carolina)
3) Alabama 11-1 (#12 Florida)

Southern Miss out of the Access Bowl candidates with under 2 losses is the only conference champion, has the highest quality win and is #5-#6 record wise out of the 10 candidates. They are the safest resume for inclusion in the Top 12.

Do you seriously think that anyone in the USA - anyone - thought that in 2011 Southern Miss was as good as Alabama, or as deserving of playing in a BCS bowl as Alabama?

Seriously?

That tells you your criteria are rather warped, eh?

Avg ECU opponent- 110.08
Avg Mar opponent- 144.67

anyway you slice it- it's a huge difference.

That looks like a relatively minor difference. I'd rather be the team that is unbeaten. 07-coffee3

Not as deserving as Alabama because Alabama was 11-1 while So. Miss was 11-2.

P5 bias comes in more in the event when a school is tied with a G5.
