Remaining UNC schedule

UNC will probably be an underdog in every remaining game this year.

Also, how high will GT jump into the polls? Seeing as how they are the only remaining P5 undefeated that is unranked.

The fact you are asking this question is extremely depressing. However, I still believe there are a few winnable games left on the schedule:

vs GT
@ UVA
vs Pitt
@Duke
vs NC State

GT should be in both polls later today. I believe they finally showed up in the Coaches Poll.

North Carolina could easily lose the rest of their games or maybe win two more games.

Wasn't this what we were asking last year and they proceeded to win their last 5 games and the bowl?

Well there is no FCS team in the last 5 games of UNC schedule this year.
NCSU has a pulse this year. Top 25 preseason=2 wins(ok 4 at the most). Leave it to the experts

I said last week that unc was clearly the second worst team in the conference behind a wake team that everyone expected to be awful.

It's in the best interest of the conference that UNC not win another game. They're tainted meat right now...any game they win is just going to hurt the conference.

Yes. In fact, I don't see the Tar Heels being challenged until they face Butler, and may not lose until they face Kentucky on Dec. 13th...

Big difference between this year and last - this year the 2nd half of the schedule features Notre Dame, Ga Tech, and MUCH-improved UVA and NC State teams.

UNC has an offense capable enough to beat anybody. The problem they have is their defense is capable of getting beat by anybody, so they have to win WAC style in 56-52 type games.

UNC definitely didn't win its final five games last season. They lost at home to Duke in their final game of the regular season. The bell is still in Durham.

UNC's defense is brutal, but the gap from top to bottom in the Coastal is smaller than you normally see in a division. I'd be surprised if they lose out.

They're obviously a heavy dog @ ND Saturday. Beyond that as an example, going off of Sagarin's predictor rankings and factoring in where their games will be played, they would likely be 9-12 point dogs @ UVA, Miami, and Duke. At home they'd be 3-4 point dogs vs Pitt and GT, and a slight favorite over NC State. Looking at that, they're likely to win 1 or 2 of those.

UVA's offense isn't good enough to be a 9-12 point favorite.

Miami's D is bad enough to keep us in the game. Most of the other games are roll of the dice. The one team, other than ND, that we pretty much have no shot, is GT. We haven't been able to defend them for some reason. Since 1998, we are 2-14 against the Jackets.

I realize Vegas lines don't track Sagarin fully, but I was giving those numbers to show what's left quality wise. He has UVA about 8 points better at the moment and gives 3.44 points for home field, so the home field would be a big part of that.

I wouldn't be shocked by UNC beating anyone left on their schedule after this weekend, but the Cavs would be a solid favorite right now.

UVA should be a solid favorite. Their defense has been stout and will be good enough to slow down our offense.

This whole thread is depressing.

Miami's offense should be good enough to overcome any problems our defense has. If ECU can put up 70, we can put up half that easily against UNC. I have no qualms about us winning that game, especially on homecoming. It should be a relatively larger crowd, which should help.

If Miami only scores 35 on UNC they are in trouble. Better hang a 50+ on 'em

ND has to worry about "trap game syndrome" with the UNC game sandwiched between Stanford and Florida State.

Nah. The football gods will do everything they can to make sure ND is undefeated going into the game next week against FSU.

You have to say it looks bleak though and it's a damn shame considering the talent of football recruits in this state.
