Welcome to MAC parity
Hey guys, just take a quick look at today's final scores.....what does that tell you? BGSU, Toledo, NIU squeak by with wins.

It's wide open

Nobody has the quarterbacking to stand out. It's going to be nuts.

I'll come clean and take the MAC down a notch from where I had it a few weeks ago, this year at least.

Next year I think there will be better Qb play. Some guys are getting much needed experience and others will return from injury.

But all of college football feels down now. Parity rules. There's the SEC and just a few other teams, everybody else is in the blob of mediocrity.

This probably isn't fair to say but I fear there are some real coaching red flags starting to show up. I hate being one of those fans to get on coaching, as there are other issues and probably not as much talent on this team, but I am concerned about coaching.

I was frustrated with the coaching today. Not using a time out at the end of the first half to save time, the bubble screen to Stingily, the decision to kick a fg instead of going for it on 4th and short...there's probably more I'm forgetting.

As frustrated with the coaching as I am/was, I feel a lot of the offensive shortcomings come down to the QB. Not that the coaching has nothing to do with that, but there have been plays to be made and guys aren't making them. The terrible drop comes to mind. The safeties bought on a ton of fakes they had no chance of chasing down. Contain broke down on misdirection plays a few times (very noticeable on the one KSU TD). Everybody needs to be better.

A few things I want to see"
1) Carey step up as a head coach.....I think the jury is still out on him
2) A decision at QB....who is the number 1 guy?
3) Our O line step up and control the game....this was our strong point heading into season

And let's sort out our RB situation.....is Akeem hurt? if so, should he be playing?

This is a riot, when did it all of a sudden become the biggest sin in the world to question the coach/his decisions? Is half the board family members of Carey and are insulted that people would question him?

Seriously why did they wear black jerseys when next week is the blackout game? Are we ever going to see the red jerseys?

I need to register a complaint on the cheerleaders. They NEVER come into the stands to sit on my lap - even though I always beckon them! I find this extremely rude and snobbish, especially since I have been known to really stick up for them. I hate to do it, but I just may have to spank them. I'm sure it will probably hurt me more than them, but they deserve a good spanking.

As has been said a million times...the MAC lives and dies based on the quality of qb play. There is literally no upper echelon QB. UMass & Akron may have the best...

It's going to be an interesting 2 months

I think Kent's QB is pretty good. Throws a nice ball, can run it when necessary and only a sophomore. And doesn't have a great supporting cast either, especially at the skill positions.

Barring injury he showed enough against us that he could be one of the QBs in the Mac his jr and sr years

I don't know, he overthrew the ball like 20 times against NIU.

Well guys, take a look at today's scores. I think parity is alive and well in the MAC. Then blend in the Huskies performance in the 1st half.....there are no "gimmes" this year. We have some young guys in the secondary, and they're going to be tested. We have a veteran O Line, but maybe not as strong as we thought.
Coaching? well, let's just say that we'll see what Carey is made of as we move forward thru the schedule

They got blown out by UMass. Kent's horrible. Their D can stop some drives, but will wear out against any decent team by 2nd half.

Quote:Well guys, take a look at today's scores. I think parity is alive and well in the MAC.

It is. EMU's competitive on the field and not a total lame duck, and Miami-OH more so. UMass is a real team who will be hard to put away by almost anyone; they Crushed Kent. BGSU has no D, so they're open for anyone beating them who has an O. WMU is rowing the boat and will take on anyone to the final minutes. Toledo has a great Run D, poor Pass D -- but they can also score a lot of points. NIU is figuring things out, but obviously going to vye for title (were they Better first few games?).

The MAC is a bettor's nightmare.
