Announcers of the ECU/SMU game
Just stated that the G5 slot in the Access will be a G5 champ who is ranked highest, if in the Top25. If not in Top25, the committee will decide the G5 rep. Is this new, or did I just miss the boat on this? It's definitely the first time I've heard this.

Yeah I'm aware of that. Those were the announcer's words not mine. But the question still holds. Is this a new statement by he committee? Sounds new to me.

Announcers corrected themselves to state "champion" of G5 league. So, if there is no G5 ranked champion, I guess the committee picks whichever one of the 5 champions they want?

That's the way it was spelled out. The G5 slot goes to the top ranked G5 champ. The rankings are of course determined by the selection committee---so effectively the committee decides who the G5 rep is going to be. The normal committee ranking will determine the top 25. If a G5 champ is not in that group, then the committee will determine who is the top G5 champ in a seperate vote.

Way to go, ECU!!
