Our kicker will be a marked man on campus. Missed two FGs and the XP that gave the game away. 03-banghead

They should put out a call for open tryouts for a walk-on kicker this week.

Congrats, Toledo. You survived.

Both teams were making mistakes all night----WMU just had the misfortune of making the final mistake in a mistake prone night and that was the only difference in the outcome of the game. The difference between winning and losing is often a very thin margin.

Surprised NIU had so much trouble with Kent tonight. Not surprising that "pillow fight" between UMASS and Miami came down to final seconds. Akron with a solid win..they are a hard bunch to figure out...blown out by Marshall and then they beat Pitt. BG pulls out a big win against Buffalo and CMU pretty much crushes the Kittens. Hard to predict winners this year!

And P.J.'s crew had trouble rowing the boat in the heavy rains and winds.

One would think Eagles would soar in the wind at Akron, but it was not to be. Except for the early TD, they did zip the rest of the way.

BTW, isn't Zips short for zippers (honest). And aren't zippers made in a factory? Why wasn't the game played at EMU's 'Factory'?

And as for the UMass Minutemen they lasted a lot longer then usual, which frequently has been only a few minutes...

The Flashes were almost golden versus NIU.

And finally, when Ball State meets Eastern Michigan, it will be a game for the birds.

Someone said that UofM and EMU really needed to play this year. Someone would have to win and a win for either team would be a good thing.

When the Wolverines play a lesser foe they say: "We're going to pump you up". I guess they were pumped at Rutgers last night.

And to add to the craziness which was yesterday there was SNOW reported in Michigan (near Traverse City) which is why maybe the MAC should give up football for hockey. Snow on October 4? Now I know why I left Michigan for a more seasonal climate...

http://www.detroitnews.com/story/news/lo.../16755843/

And wasn't it (near) 100 in So Cal for the Dodgers' game(s) which, of course, is why they didn't want to play 18 innings? Weather is getting weird...

Congrats to Miami, had a beer tasting that started at 6 PM and did listen up till the completion of the last drive. Could not bear it that we lost 4 games by an average of 3 points. Kicking game and no defensive rushing against the QB stung.

There WAS snow at the Akron/EMU game. Or something resembling it. Ice pellets or something.

Spoken like somebody who hasn't even bothered to look at a UMass box score this season

Yeah, I been watching the new Viagra commercials... 03-lmfao

Actually my whole post was a pun: The WMU boat took on water, Eastern didn't soar like Eagles, etc.

Except for maybe the 2010 season when we rolled through the MAC and then lost to Miami in the Championship we have always played one to two MAC games in the regular season where an opponent everyone expects us to beat played us closely.

But the whole musical QBs thing is getting old in DeKalb. The coaching staff needs to figure it out. They decided to start playing the 3rd string QB (Maddie) after the 1st string QB (Hare) led the team down the field a couple occasions while racking up nearly 130 yards of offense in the first quarter. However, in the first quarter when this occurred our kicker missed a FG and then our coaching staff decided to punt on 4th & 3 at the KSU 36-yd line instead of going for it.

I think WMU in many ways rode the rough waters surprisingly well -- but had some STUPID leak in it at the same time ("Duct tape is NOT going to work!") with the missed FGs & PAT. Toledo was very lucky to get out of it alive.

I think Western showed a LOT in a tough loss.

It is one thing to beat Idaho or Murray State but another to go toe to toe with Toledo in OT.

The Toledo game, and Va Tech, showed how much promise WMU has.

WMU has to be on guard against a big let down Saturday vs. Ball State.

It is easy to be deflated after a tough loss. Just ask Detroit fans who saw the Lions blow a game vs. Buffalo and then the Tigers continue to find ways to lose a post season game all within a few painful hours. :(

The Detroit losses were very painful. That 4 hour drive back to Chicago from the Tigers game was somber.
