Obviously an easy game to pick. Eastern is just a poorly coached team with sufficient talent to at least be competitive. Why in the hell is Rob Bolden playing out there? He sucks, number one and he isn't coming back next season, so no other QB's are being developed...he's a "lame" lame duck QB. If Creighton is going to play a senior QB, wouldn't you rather it been Tyler Benz. Too bad CC had to run him out of the program. This program is a complete mess.

Bob, you're close on the score. It could have been 38 - 6.
Yeah, it would have been but Bowden doesn't want to risk Pohl's health in a game that is well in hand. The line on this game is actually 25--went up 4 points, Vegas knows their stuff.

Buffalo over BG 28-20 at Bowling Green in the 3rd, so next week is not going to get any easier.

BTW, to correct our color man on the WEMU broadcast, a push is a push in Vegas.

So EMU 6 (+ 25) = 31 same as Akron's points on the scoreboard.

Bets would be refunded on both sides.

BTW2, oddsmakers set the initial lines and then the 'market' moves them. What most likely happened is at Akron -21 almost everyone bet on the Zips so the odds quickly moved to the point that the bets on each side (hopefully) even out.

Vegas would like equal bets on each side (they make their profit as bets are usually 11 to win 10. Someone bets EMU +25 for $11. Someone else bets Zips - 25 for $11. The house collects $22 on those two opposite bets but pays out $21 (the winning 10 + 11 bet = 21). The house has an almost 5% edge. ($1 out of $22 bet).

I bet lots of people are mad at Bowden for not kicking the FG.

BobW:

This is O/T:

I bet the Tigers UNDER 90 wins in Vegas last March (I didn't like the 2014 team, but never dreamt the 'pun would be so inept).

The Tigers had EXACTLY 90 wins.

Vegas will have to refund all of those bets. They can not claim that the Tigers were not under 90 or that the Tigers were not OVER 90.

Things work better when odds are like 25 1/2 points or Tigers Ov/Un 90.5 games. No pushes.

Yep, makes sense. I would have bet the over. How bad is the Fister trade looking now?

Buffalo blows their lead against BG's poor defense. I've still got us winning next week.

Thriller in Kalamazoo. Toledo hits a FG with no time left to force OT.

Toledo wins in OT as the WMU kicker, Haldeman, hits the upright on a PAT and it bounces wide.

Final: Toledo 20, WMU 19.

BTW, a lot of thrillers and upsets in college football today. Many ranked teams went down.

What a way for WMU to lose. Matches UT's touchdown in OT, but missed the PAT to lose 20-19.

UMass blows another lead. This time they drop a 41-14 lead against Miami; a team that hasn't won since 2012.

With all the pre season optimism etc., who would have expected that the football season would be such a disaster? English is probably laughing outloud!

What is there to be optimistic about at this stage of the season ? It's been a real downer and heaven knows who will be out starting qb and receivers next season. There doesn't appear to be any qb/wr candidates on the current roster. We are lacking a lot of things in the way of talent.

That's on Creighton. It is pointless to start a QB who is a one and doner--especially if he is not very good. It also begs the question, why did Benz not return to provide stability in this period of transition? Was he not welcomed back because he was a senior? Why is the best RB in the MAC and legit NFL prospect not being used effectively? You're right, this season is a complete disaster.

Benz quit before he ever met Creighton. Benz leaving had absolutely nothing to do with CC. He graduated early and bolted to Europe to play on a team that seems as bad as we are. He didn't want to play college football anymore.

Fair enough. I appreciate the info. I hope Creighton will decide on playing a returning QB so that he can get some development for next season or he may learn that the QB's we have for next season are not going to cut it. Either way, it's a win.

I disagree. If you are the coach you play whoever you feel gives you the best chance to win now. I don't agree with starting younger players over seniors to prepare for the future just like I don't agree with sticking with seniors that aren't getting the job done because of loyalty to seniors. None of the QBs have looked good.

What I do agree with though is to look for opportunities to play younger backups when those opportunities arise. But at this point I think the coaches are going to ride Bolden because they feel he gives the offense the best chance to get into a rhythm.

What I don't understand is how so many posters are turning on CC. The team was not remotely competitive in any of the MAC games last season outside of the WMU win. The receiving corps was weak last year and lost Donald Scott, Demarius Reed, Jay Jones, Quincy Jones, Julius Shelby, and Creel is coming off an ACL. Any coach knows that Eastern has no passing game so is going to load up against the run. We are starting receivers that wouldn't be on the two deeps, an O line that has struggled with pass protection for over two years and QBs Bolden and Roback have never shown a history of accuracy. The biggest offense of this staff so far has been to not get the offense to play above the level of the talent - they are playing at the level of the talent.
