OT: Utah State/BYU
Utah State is shocking BYU 28-14 at half in Provo. Tayson Hill for BYU went down with an ugly ankle injury with 2 minutes left in half.

Just pointing it out because we are talking about the same Utah State team that is coming off a loss in Jonesboro two weeks ago. A Utah State win would make the SBC look better.

Yeah they can't blame it on his loss.

That last long pass play by USU's crappy second string quarterback was sort of wobbly.

Utah State wins 35-20. Makes us look better for now. We've got to consolidate with a strong league run.

Caught the last 8 minute or so, Great win for the Belt and Ark State.

I was so hoping NC State was going to beat FSU last weekend.

Imagine how close that story was to coming true. Wish we could of won those two ACC games like you guys did over Utah State.

Story was dang near having a new Belt member with wins over the two top ranked teams in each division of the ACC, one of those having just beaten the defending National Champions.... So close it burns like cheap whiskey!

Today was important. Looking at our FBS OOC Wins so far: Kent State is winless, Wake Forest is two and three with wins over Army and an FCS, Tulsa is 1-3 with a win over Tulane. Utah State is now 3-2 with a win over Wake and BYU.

We were quickly facing a situation where all of our FBS OOC Victories were going to be under .500 currently.

GSU's losses to GT and NC State hurt. Probably will really hurt when the conference rankings come out at the end of the year.

Pretty crappy if losing to a mid-level ACC by 1 or 4 is counted the same as losing to them by 25.

Well, if there can be any good losses - I'd say those two are it. That's why we all would be better off If both NC State and GT win out or as many as possible. And this is why I wanted NC State to hold on over FSU so badly. Not all losses are equal, and with that near defeat of Number one.. it would have Made NC State #1 in the ACC Atlantic and GT IS #1 in the ACC Coastal at this point. Just like Utah State (granted you guys actually won) we want them to win as much as possible.

NC State plays Clemson today on ESPNU 3:30
GT/Miami today on ESPN2 at 7:30

If they both win that is good for our SSO and so good for the Conference.
Wake/FSU @ 3:30 ABC. Not likely the Demon Deacons pull off the upset, but FSU has played like crap at times this season... But an upset there would make ULM look good and in turn all of us.

Added: Besides I'd like to see about 10 1 loss teams and no undefeated teams except for any G5's. Let the controversy in the playoff boil and fuel the drive for expanding it.

That's part of the point though. You don't get a ton of style points anymore from the NCAA for losses. Not in terms of conference rankings.

"Well Georgia Southern almost beat North Carolina State" isn't going to cause the NCAA to rank the SBC any higher.

How does it hurt? If anything I think the fact that GS played those two teams as well as they did, considering their first year in FBS, shows positive on GS program. Those losses dont mean anything as far as the SB conference, and no team from the SB is going to play for a NC, I dont think it hurts. Now if you are looking at it from the standpoint that the OOC teams the SB played this year are a measuring stick to how good the SB is, then maybe it does in that regard. As a program however, I dont think it hurts GS.

Well...it depends. Many people are still considering NC State a fluke. To the point that the FLorida State game was considered more about how poor Florida State played to how well NC State played.

It helps you guys a little bit, but you have to understand there are close calls every year in G5 over P5 upsets, but 99 percent of those are ultimately forgotten about. I remember Arkansas State came within a bad call of having the ball with a chance to tie 4th ranked Texas with 2 minutes left, but while that game is well remembered amongst our fans...it was not noticed nationally, and that was a Texas team favored to play for a National Title, not an NC State team that most don't think will make a bowl.

Why? BYU, being an independent was not even considered a candidate for the playoff if they went undefeated. On the other hand Notre Dame would be. That was not even considered a victory over a P5 team.
