Very nice numbers for GaSo/App
156,000 viewers.
Other games overlapping: Giants vs. Redskins (11.86 million), and Texas Tech vs. Oklahoma State (1.84 million viewers)
Following night on FS1 ODU/MTSU drew 127k up against Fresno and New Mexico (838k).

eh. Lower than I would have hoped for, but I'll take it. We are still not a nationally known team (outside of our florida win). It will take quite a few years of steady winning, and winning over p5 teams for people to scroll through their guide and see a GS game and go "oh man, I wanna check them out"

There is a lot of truth to this...I saw zero promotion on ESPN, ESPN2 or ESPNU for the Georgia Southern/App State game...

No those are really good numbers. Since 2012, that's the third most watched G5 vs. G5 Thursday night ESPNU game behind
Tulsa/BGSU 199k
ULM/AState 177

And I don't think the Tulsa/BGSU game had NFL competition.

Looks like the Ga Southern vs App game will be on Thursday night from now on. If we both have good records, maybe they will bump it up to espn 2.
It is unfortunate for the conference that Ga Southern and Ark St don't play as that game would draw viewers.

Even if it had been played, I doubt it would have been selected this year. Television tends to select teams they know will draw. While Arkansas State is a known draw, Georgia Southern was not. App was the first opportunity to see if you could draw an audience.
If anything, this will give you the chance to earn more of these games in the future

I think the win over Florida made us an interesting draw which is why ESPNU picked up two of our games on Thursday.

Those numbers sound terrible to me, we had an FCS playoff win against ODU that was above a million I thought

That game was played on a Saturday, in mid December, with no other College Football games on opposite it, at a time wen many are off work and school and are looking for something to watch.
If that game had been played opposite the SEC Title game at the same time, you'd have been lucky to get half the numbers.

I hope the Southern/App game is not on Thursday next year. I do enjoy going to Boone.

Maybe you should spend some time studying. ESPNU ain't ESPN or ESPN2 in audience habit and there is a vast difference between Saturday with no competition and Thursday with 11 million watching the NFL.

True, I'm not sure what I expected, you have always seemed keyed in with television so if you say it's a good number then I trust you. If espn2 picks it up next year that will suck in a way because it will be in Boone but they have a great atmosphere as well

The numbers may seem small but when they are better than other G5 in the same situation it's good. If Georgia Southern and App can show that they bring numbers and join stAte and the Cajuns then perhaps we can start building a case for a tv contract with a little more exposure.
