Congrats on making lots of money though. I guess that's why we all want to be in a p5-6 conference so our teams can make piles of cash without ever really accomplishing much. Must be nice I'm jealous!

Iowa is getting what they get because of what Iowa is. I am sorry if Memphis basketball is the best thing the "University" of Memphis can brag about but Iowa is a much much better Institution as a whole and THAT is why they make what they make.

I realize that is hard for you to understand.

Oh by the way, had a look at the 2013-2014 basketball BPI on ESPN.

Iowa ranked 26th, Memphis ranked 43rd at the end. Gosh, that must sting. No worries, you can always fall back on what....one season to brag about?

You want some history from the last 10 years? Iowa has beaten Florida, LSU and South Carolina in the Outback Bowl. How about you share a little about Memphis now instead of just sharing your ignorance.

I think if they found a way to treat their geographics as conferences within themselves for other sports, or some kind of marginalized travel requirements, it could really work.

The setup for football highlights the best of both conferences, and gets all teams having a trip to Texas each year. You also have a balance of Florida and Cali schools....

This conference sort of loses the Northeast lean for basketball that schools like UConn and Cincinnati have enjoyed since the Big East days....but ultimately its a football world.

Why UTSA gets so much hype, I don't know. Once the novelty of a high profile football team in San Antonio wears off, then what? Will people in the region still stay unconditionally supportive through losing seasons? They're 1-4 now (yes, I'm quite aware of where the 1 came from) and attendance may dip because of it.

And North Texas may not be much better. I do see lots of potential at Texas State though.

Presuming the Old Big East concept was viable, this is what I would have preferred to see:

West:
San Diego State*
Fresno State*
Boise State*
BYU*
Houston
SMU

East:
Cincinnati
Connecticut
South Florida
Central Florida
Temple
East Carolina

The MWC would stay at nine rather than add Idaho and NMSU.

C-USA hangs on to Tulsa, Tulane, and Memphis. Western Kentucky and Middle Tennessee remain in the Sun Belt, who gets to pick up Charlotte.

That's a nice lineup of schools and would usually be the top G5 conference.

But as a USF fan ... man, it's hard to imagine Bulls fans getting excited about competing against those schools west of Texas. That is truly a national conference.
