Is it to early to guess the starting five...

PG- Lee
SG- Price
SF- Ward (Major confrence transfer Okoloji off the bench)
PF- Ajayi (Or does Okoloji/Hunter start here?)
C- Samuels or Hunter (Samuels has best size but considering his injuries I have no idea about him)

Should be good enough to challenge Toledo/Ohio and Akron. I think Western regresses.

Mike Talley is the starting PG.

I see it as:

PG: Talley then Alvano then Perry
SG: Lee then Bond
SF: Price then Okoloji then Nazzione
PF: Ward then Hunter
C: Ajayi then Samuels

I see Nobles redshirting and bulking up based on reviews I've heard from his HS coaches.

Again the forwards and centers will not be labeled as such in Murphys systems. All will be interchangeable on the bottom of the zone.

Not with David Brown coming back. Also you missed that I see NIU making some major improvement last year and giving us fits in the MAC West.

This. Although I think Hunter is gonna be a Mo Hughley-type backup C. Okoloji and Nazione are the forward depth, and I think we can put Bond there too if we want to go a tad smaller. Vice versa with Price playing at SG once in a while.

A real defensive nightmare for other teams could be Bond-Price-Ward-Okoloji-Ajayi. Lots and lots of length.

I agree with the last statement that length could be a problem for other teams.

One thing about Hunter is that he is taller than Hughley who was no where his listed height. He was wide, but short for a post player.

I think we pick up a few inches in height there.

Okoloji has A-10 defensive skills. Murph will like that. Ajayi during the latter part of the season was getting super aggressive on defense. Maybe he and Samuels split time and bust butt out there with effort.

I wish I were in Ypsi to watch practice (we need some 'eyes in the arena'). I also wish I were in San Fran for the NLDS game. Tigers laid an egg but Giants/Nats is a thriller.

That said, I believe that under the new NCAA rules the teams can have enough September 'practice' so that coaches should have known by Oct 3 what pieces they have and how they'll fit together.

RE: EMU can start men's basketball practice today
I'll go with:

Talley and Bond at PG. Alvano plays there if Bond needs to see time at SG (hope he isn't needed there).
Lee and Price at SG.
Ward and Price at SF.
Okaloji and Nazzione at PF. I don't like Okaloji as a shooter. That was his problem at Mason.
Samuels and Ajayi at C. As was mentioned by someone, sometime: "Center by committee".
Hunter - not sure where he plays. Need to think about him some. But he is a D-I player.

With the depth on this team I'd redshirt Nobles and maybe Alvano.

Players like Okaloji, Hunter, Samuels, Nazzione came here to play from day one. Frosh can be redshirted if they aren't in the top 8 or 9.

This isn't a great team but a team with a number of very solid players and a lot of depth and experience. This is not EMU football. It is ready to fire on day one.
