That's too funny, because I was just looking up BC's football schedule to see how good they were (they're 3-1, with only loss being against UCF, they beat FIU, Grambling and Florida Tech).

Our offense was horrendous in that game (the offense has been improved but still not great). Coach Turner played both McGough and Hilliard trying to figure out which one is the staring QB. We couldn't run the ball and O-Line got beat constantly. We fumbled on our game-winning field goal attempt. Most upsets happen in week one cuz well it's the first game of the season. Bethune-Cookman is a good FCS team.

You guys are learning on offense.

It's not fair.

Cake and eat it too?

The defense gave up a couple big plays that hurt, but it was mostly atrocious offense. Hilliard got the start, but we quickly realized McGough was better. McGough stayed in the rest of the game, but that was his first in-game experience at the FBS level. Needless to say it was very shaky. He still managed to engineer a potential game-winning drive. I am very confident if we played Bethune this saturday it would be a much different game.

That's the thing - if you can't score anyone can beat you.

If they get that offense going watch out.

Right. We also didn't really know how good we were in that first game and our expectation was to 'keep it close'. There was also a lot of choking going on. The team has matured far beyond that first game in a short month and a half.

It happens to just about every college football team in America minus the top `10 or 15 in a given year, where you lose to someone and ask what just happened? We have all been there and La. Tech can say same thing if they go on to have a successful season....

Will the real FAU show up? They have to be on board as the most confusing team in CUSA so far

2011 we got drilled at home by Indiana St. by about 40, everyone gave up on the season at that point....We than proceed to win 6 out of our last 8 games and finished tied for 1st in the conference with a 7 and 1 record and go toe to toe with the number 1 ranked team in the nation that year LSU in the first half....

Bethune-Cookman didn't turn the ball over...

Lets not go from A to Z win 2 wins because FIU is still a very poor offensive team that is taken advantage of turnovers by turning them into points. Those huge holes that opened last night for the runs by FIU were not the product of the FIU offensive line......

it's a defect in the FAU defense that's been there all year.

But lately FAU played poor offensive teams so it wasn't as noticeable as it was vs Neb and Bama and I'm sure those 2 schools had something to do with it also. But...

Wyoming...336 yards a game (92nd and 93rd)
USTA........307 yards a game (103rd-106th)
FIU...........285 yards a game (105th-115th)

The next 2 games should expose the FAU defense for what it is...Swiss Cheese

This FIU defense gave up almost 400 yards to a UAB team that had 5 drives of 3 plays or less stopped by turnovers and this FAU team is one of the worse looking offensive teams I've seen all year....

just awful yet they drove down the field on FIU 3 times and all 3 could have and 2 should have been TDs. Turnovers are part of the game but I don't think they will continue at the rate they have for FIU...

and a good EXPERIENCE qb with the offensive weapons is going to stomp a mud-hole in that blitzing FIU defense at some point. FAU's OC or who ever is calling the plays should be fired for not taking full advantage of that blitz

It was an attempt by FIU to atone for American slavery. 03-banghead

FIU plays a very aggressive style of defense, obviously. FIU brings the heat in hopes to force these turnovers. Thus you are going to give up chunks of yards sometimes, but also going to make plays when you have corners like we do.

Honestly, I don't think it's a QB that will be their kryptonite. I think it's a no huddle offense capable of running 100 plays a game and a 240lb back named Devon Johnson. He runs at guys like they insulted his grandma. Defenses we've played are physically and emotionally abused by that guy ripping off 8-9 yards per carry.

We've got true balance this year and if Cato is having a bad game, we just run all over people. Granted our competition hasn't been great, but getting beat on for 3 hours and losing clock the whole time will wear any defense down. Plus, if you stack the box to TRY to contain him, then Cato will find the receivers. Of that you can be sure.

I recall some Blazer fans saying this before the game, then the hooters said the same before this game, but they still produce multiple turnovers in those games.

Petrino called this a "kamikaze" blitzing D. So far the end results have justified the play style.

It's because Bethune-Cookman is a "Historically Black College and University"

A Marshall alum is the QB at BC. He posts on our message boards all the time. They take in a ton of FBS transfers, most of which were booted off of teams. Their talent level is pretty good for a FCS team without much tradition.
