Ohio St record attendance vs UC
Should the fact that OSU recorded a record attendance against UC show that the game is of interest to all Ohio football fans. I would also guess that the Big 10 network had a large viewing audience.
Do these types of thing mean anything in regards to OSU scheduling another round of games at OSU or even playing one in Cleveland or Cincinnati pro stadiums.
It seems to me AD Bone needs to follow-up now to gauge any interest on there part. I think OSU fans would be more interested in UC games then Rutgers, Maryland or even Northwestern.
What say you?

Not really.

Also, I'm sure OSU fans would be more interested in a number of opponents than Rutgers, Maryland and Northwestern. Doesn't matter much when those teams are conference foes.

While it was a good crowd, the record was set because of new seating that was added since last year. This record will be eclipsed quickly I would think.

The thing to remember is that OSU always sells over 100K tickets. The only difference for our game is that our fans bought a decent amount of tickets before t-shirt Ohio State fans did. As others have noted, as OSU gets into their B10 schedule they will continue to have crowds as large (and some will surpass) what we saw last week.

It was higher than what they got against VT and that was the hype opponent for the shoe's reopening.

the fact that more people showed up for the UC game vs. the VT game stands out to me.

There were still open seats in the endzone with the scoreboard. The game will be eclipsed very soon. The ticket price for UC was cheaper than the ticket price for VT, thus that is most likely the reason for the extra fans. UC was tied with several other games for cheapest ticket on their schedule.

Was it? I saw tickets for multiple other games for much cheaper tickets for similar seats.

For the 2014 football season, individual game tickets will be $79 each (plus any applicable fees), with the exception of the Premier Games vs. Virginia Tech and Michigan. Tickets for the Premier Game vs. Virginia Tech will be $110 each (plus any applicable fees) and tickets for the Premier Game vs. Michigan will be $150 each (plus any applicable fees)

I was talking about secondary market. I figured most games had tickets going for similar prices from the OSU ticket office. Rutgers, Illinois and Indiana each had significantly cheaper tickets on the secondary market than UC. Virginia Tech tickets were not really any higher either.

I was talking about the ticket office. I believe I paid $85 after fees for the UC vs OSU game through their ticket office (didn't go through UC, got better tickets in the pre-sale for season ticket holders through my company). If I remember correctly, Indiana sold out while UC didn't.

I think secondary market prices probably says a lot more about demand for the game than the OSU ticket office prices. That's why I went with that.

Like I said, I don't think the UC game sold out. I'm pretty sure Indiana sold out before the public sale.

What say you?

No. UC isn't doing anymore buy games 1 and done. Tubs said no more of that. OOC will be home and home. (not considering FCS)

On what planet is VT a premium game. Is this 15 years ago when Vick was in school?

Look at the rest of One of the Ohio State Universities' (the Columbus Branch) home slate. It's not exactly a murderer's row of appealing schools coming to town. Other than Michigan, VT was the biggest name opponent. I'd say UC was number 3 on that list which is why it's secondary market tickets were going for much higher than the rest of the schedule (minus MU and VT...thought VT and UC were close).

Aside from tic sales/prices. I have family in Northern Ohio. They said leading up to the game there was discussion in the Clev area papers and on the news regarding the game. I think there was buzz, since it was Ohio's two largest universities going head to head. Probably was big all over the state, with the exception of the Cincy media.

The Plain-Dealer has actually covered UC fairly well the past 2-3 years. They do a much better job in general covering all sports than the Enquirer, of course, that is not saying much.

The Columbus Dispatch also covers UC from time to time as well.
