I don't think I have ever seen an official or even replica jersey sold. For sure, I have never seen them at VCB or the University Bookstore.

I have a crappy fake one from Walmart, but I would pay for a good stitched one. Maybe the Grotto can sell them?

I like them a lot just thought they were similar.

The "NIU" (and colors) is the only thing different! The numbers are exactly the same. I love it (as much as I hate the Heat)! Adidas just swapped out logos.

That's what I thought, thanks for the pictures!

I agree don't like the Heat but I really like the jersey style, clean cut.

Also, anyone know why baseball and basketball home uniforms are white and in football and hockey away jerseys are white?

Never understood why they differ. I know the cowboys and LSU wear white at home in football but majority wear darker jerseys.

Weird sports quirk.

Mainly I think it has to do with marketing. Hockey and football jerseys are more marketable than baseball and basketball, I think there is a mindset that you want your home fans to take in your team colors so that they get into the mood to buy merchandise. Football has been like that as long as I can remember and hockey use to be home whites until some time in the 90s I think?

I buy football but not hockey. Also the football thing is somewhat still questionable considering the cowboys are an uber successful business entity with lots of sales and they wear white at home.

I just don't buy the hockey at all. You'd be hard press to show me nhl products even come close to MLB products. Even with the cubs being ****** and the Blackhawks awesome, the nirth spiders rake in marketable sales across the country.

Interesting take, but I just don't think that's the reason. I feel like it's probably something to do with when the sports first began.

I don't even think its a matter of comparing the two, but if you look at hockey, they rely a lot on merchandise since their television contracts are not as lucrative. Hockey jerseys are really really popular among the fans, even if they don't compare in overall gross amount to MLB. Just watch a Blackhawks game and estimate what percentage of fans are in jerseys, its probably like 60%.

I understand that, but I have a hard time buying that's why teams in those sports wear dark at home.

I mean I know hockey sweaters are like the thing for hockey fans as opposed to hats for baseball. But baseball sells a lot of jersey t shirts and those are usually the away jersey style. Dark blue for Yankees, black for white sox, blue for cubs, etc.

I totally follow your train of thought but seems like that wouldn't have been the idea behind why the sports differ in the jersey thing. I really would be interested in finding out all possibilities and the real reason.

Well I know football and hockey do it mainly for marketing, not so sure about why baseball and basketball do not.

Let's move forward to 2003. The "home-white, vistor-dark" system has worked well for over three decades. Why change now?

It never hurts to give the fans a fresh look after 32 years. But the real reason for the reversal is to boost the sales of team jerseys.

Would be cool to see a black version of these uniforms as well.

Ya that was my first thought too. Same type of numbers and style on the sides. Very cool

For a number of years, NHL went to white home uniforms. I think the reason was to change things up for the home fans--different colors for each game.

The NHL wore white at home until fairly recently. They switched it because of the advent of alternate jerseys. Teams were having to haul more than one jersey on the road because they were never sure what the other team would have on that night. Now, the road team can just bring the whites since they'll never look the same as the home team's 3rd or 4th jersey.

So, it was done as a marketing thing, but not for the main jerseys.
