From what I read it said it was a conditioning drill where 3 of the players were carring a log/pole and he lost his footing, fell, and the pole/log fell on him. It was described as a crossfit type training exercise I think

Some of this cross training stuff that schools do is very, very dangerous. If an employer had this type of disregard for their employees safety OSHA would fine the hell out of them and prosecute some people. Prayers for the young man and hoping for a quick and full recovery.
