I have no idea who the best dressed Star Wars Ninja Jedi is, but there is a kernel of truth in his post.

I do know that since WVU joined the Big 12 they have not been happy being on an "island" 1200 miles or so from their nearest conference mate (Iowa State). And they have been pleading their case for the Big 12 to expand to the East to satisfy that concern.

The previous Texas leadership was adamantly opposed to any expansion. However, the new Texas leadership appears to be more amiable to the possibility of considering expansion to satisfy WVU while adding tv markets.

Not saying it will happen, but there is that kernel of truth.

West Virginia would love a closer opponent...unless it reduces their conference payments. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure they are probably the most open to expansion, but I think the being on an island is a little overrated. They get to play Texas and Oklahoma every year and have Kansas twice in basketball. They wouldn't keep all that with a 12 team league and while might prefer 12 anyway, I don't think it's to the point of them feeling seriously discouraged, more of just a preference.

Like Texas really cares how West Virginia feels. LOL. Maybe the Eers will leave the Big 12 for ..... .?
That Jedi hasn't figured out yet who runs the Big12 and is not WV

For 20 million a year, you can put Memphis out on "an island"...we'd join the Pac 12 for that kind of money.

If you refer to what WVU fans post on message boards, you are right they are very happy right were they are and for schools in the AAC to be excluded. The key point to remember though is that message board fans are a very small percentage of their fanbase. Moreover, the most important question is how the WVU administration feel about being "on an island"?

Exactly…I suspect they are pretty damn grateful to be where they are at this point. It is not like they had options…I am sure if they had their choice they would like to be in a more regional conference but it sure as heck beats the alternative. Also it is not like they have any bargaining power in this deal. The Big 12 knows that WVU needs them a hell of a lot more than they need WVU. WVU has zero leverage in this deal, I feel pretty certain they do not make much noise at the Big 12 meetings.
