She is one of the best basketball commentators out there. I love when she does UC games.

Agreed. Burke is certainly better than Dahkich and the like...

I wonder if Calhoun will just be in the studio, basically replacing Digger.

Bilas is a good analyst, but his backhanded compliments of Calhoun and UConn are pathetic. I used to love how the Big East > ACC would annoy him.

For longtime fans of the ebullient Vitale, don’t worry, he’s not going anywhere. He’s still going to call college basketball games all season for ESPN, and he too had his contract extended (to 2017), a source at ESPN tells us.

As has been documented here, there are several changes coming to ESPN’s college basketball coverage this season. Former Connecticut coach Jim Calhoun has been added to the ESPN roster to provide analysis, and so have former coaches Stan Heath and Craig Robinson. Former Duke star Shane Battier is going to be part of ESPN’s college basketball coverage this season, too.

And Gameday is shaking up the set: Out with Jalen Rose and Digger Phelps, in with Seth Greenberg and Jay Williams. ESPN confirmed that yesterday. There’s one more wrinkle to the show: Instead of announcing the sites in the preseason, ESPN announced it will do what College Football’s Gameday does – make a decision each week based on games that matter most or have the best storyline... ."

Wow, I guess being the brother in law of a President (who happens to love college basketball) is all it takes to get a job as an "analysis" at ESPIN. Craig Robinson did an AWFUL job at Oregon St. His resume as a coach is one of the worst I've heard of at this level.

I don't mind some cockiness as long as he does a good job. He has always been fair with UC.

I am still waiting for Bilas to come back on the air and explain why VCU was not worthy of the at large bid they got a few years ago. VCU went all the way to the final four with that team, but Bilas was blabbering on about some stupid eye test or look test. I was concede that he was right about UAB not belonging in the tournament, but he was wrong about VCU; so I laughed when Barkley ripped on him on him right on the set.

One of my college buddies dad is really good friends with an ESPN analyst. My friend went to ECU but was a Tarheel basketball fan (sadly, they exist). Anyways, i'll never forget, it was the Duke versus Butler in the championship. The ESPN analyist was a huge UNC fan, but when he spoke about the Duke-Butler game, he raved and raved about Duke. How Duke was going to crush them, such a great team, butler is undersized, under talented. Duke is the best team, blah, blah, blah. My friend texted him and said wtf is the hard on with Duke, we want Butler??!?

He text back and said no **** but that's what the outline he was given said. ESPN told him to say that. That they were trying to build up the notion that is was david versus goilith. ESPN wanted a great underdog story. He ended the text by saying he thought it was all BS and truly thought Butler was going to win the championship.

Moral of the story is everything is scripted. If bilas were to answer that question honestly it is probably because he was paid to do it. Those who step too far outside the script are suspended or canned.

This. Great story/post. That's exactly how it works at ESPIN.

Bilas never admitted his mistake. Instead, he blamed the Committee for putting VCU in the Tourney in the first place. Only a lawyer can ignore actual results when making an argument. I am relieved Bilas does not design bridges or someone would be in the drink.

I agree, I like Burke. She is knowledgeable and does not try to outshine the game.
