You don't have to worry about much if we can't throw the ball. Neither UH or UCF showed anything last night that would suggest their top of the conference.

I'll be happy with 6 or 7 wins and St. Pete. I'll just wear my fiesta bowl gear when I go.

You're right, next year was supposed to be our rebuilding year. Our offense has regressed far more than expected. We're very lucky to get this win

You guys lost your star QB, who went #3 in the draft, and is now starting in the NFL.

I think a lot of your fans underestimated the loss that would be.

If UCF had Holman as QB last year instead of Bortles, they would have been a mid-pack AAC team. Underestimated is an understatement.

And if Bortles stayed a year, we'd like be 3-1 and Houston would have been routed.

I agree...which hammers home how similar the two squads are...and how Bortles was the X factor. He took a mediocre team last year to great places. UCF fans argued this was a better team. Not seeing it and unfortunately Holman is no Bortles.

With all the close wins you are absolutely correct. What I see however is how Holman compares to Bortle's first few games when he took over for Godfrey. They do compare statistically and physically. Holman's work ethic is not the same as Bortles so far and that is why DiNovo started at QB. Can he and will he learn as fast as Bortles is the big question. Bortles came out of nowhere as a QB which shows he is a quick learner. Time will tell.04-rock

I remember watching Bortles early on and thinking that he wasn't great...but, my, did he have the fundamentals. There was something about him that commanded the game. Obviously he just needed experience. I do not see that in Holman. I sure hope I end up being wrong. Godfrey was awful. Replacing him with Bortles was judt the right thing to do...even without having the benefit of hindsight. Holman is better than Godfrey as well. Though I don't think Holman will ever be a top AAC QB. Again, I would be happy to end up eating crow down the road.

Levine and Bush took it behind the shed and murdered it.

I hate to say it, but Houston Cougar football is BORING.

I had the same impression. UCF looks bad (although their QB will be a good one soon) and we look awful. This is not going to be a good year for the American.

The Blake Bortles in waiting. He looks the most like bb. Same size style and arm with a cannon. He will redshirt this year but everyone is really excited. Holmans long ball was awful tonight

I think Holman can be really good... and perhaps one of the best in college football.

That said, it's unfair to measure anyone by the Bortles standard. Bortles is the best of the best. His athleticism and skills at his size is freakish, which is why he's a Top 5 draft pick. 04-bow

Slow your cart down...because if you say that about Holman now (very, very inconsistent and inexperienced QB), then you could say the same thing to every player starting their 3rd game.

Luck is when preparation meets opportunity. If Brandon Alexander hadn't forced that fumble UH would have won the game.

Even if you dismiss Ward's mistake and Alexanders's play as mere luck, UH had plenty of opportunities to capitalize on UCF mistakes throughout the game. Both teams were sloppy so you can't pin the outcome on any one play.

Other than last night, I haven't seen much of you guys. But why is he so slow in getting rid of the ball? He seems unsure of himself. That's all on the O-coordinator? He really seems like a different QB.

This is the only reasonable explanation for why Stanback isn't getting the vast majority of the carries.

Brandon Alexander made the play. What an ending. If Ward had played the whole game Houston would have won by 21 points. Our offense is truly awful. We cannot run the ball...and forget about passing.

Both offenses looked awful. I don't think the last play was luck. Our safety knocked the ball out of Ward's hand. he made the play. If Ward had "dropped" the ball that would have been luck.

it was luck, by a inch it would have been a td, if he had held the grip with 1 hand it would ave been a td, if the ball hand bounched a inch back we'd have had the ball at the one...

he didnt hit the ball he hit ward and how the ball reacted and him afterwards was pure luck that ended in ucfs favor

youd be 100% lying if you felt that was the intentions of the db

You really think that thought crossed his mind when he realized he could just dive and his momentum would easily cross the goal line?

Every player goes for the TD...especially when there is no one in front of you.

On the official replay, I was just hoping that the QB didn't accidentally step on the out-of-bounds marker.

In short: yes, it's all on TB. O'Korn looks uncertain because he wasn't properly coached up in the offseason, and because the scheme he's being asked to run is seriously flawed.

For reasons known only to Bush and Levine it was decided that we would de-emphasize the short crossing routes and quick sticks that are the bread and butter of the Air Raid in favor of slower developing vertical routes without changing the hurry up tempo that has been our calling card for the past few years. The UTSA game made it brutally obvious that we don't have nearly the caliber of OL necessary to do that. The running game has suffered badly as well. Holgerson and KK knew they had less than stellar OL's so they used motion to influence the LB's away from where we wanted to run: TB's scheme has almost none of that. The result of all this is that we have an offense that is damn near impotent against FBS caliber defenses.

O'Korn has had very few clean pockets this season which has in turn resulted in lots of hurried off target throws. As the season has gone on Bush has slowed down the tempo and tried to mix in more short throws with very little success.

It appears that JOK's decision making and mechanics have regressed to the point where he has trouble completing even the most basic of throws; the receivers are dropping more passes as they are clearly starting to hear footsteps; the running game is a hit or miss affair at best. In short, we suck.
