RE: Happy Autonomy Day P5!
"The Pac-12 says presidents and chancellors will explore how to implement the proposed reforms at its board meeting Oct. 27, including by each institution, conference-wide action or among the five major conferences."
In other words there is still only a consensus on what should be considered, not what should actually be implemented.

In nearly every movie or story you ever watch or hear, the villian is always the monopolistic despot who tries to keep the young, up and coming hero in his place.
Welcome to your lot P5. You are the evil empire.

Random thought.
As the P5 start implementing semi-pro benefits, UA and ASU have no arguement regarding Grand Canyon University and their for-profit status as a D1 member.

Please explain how they have no argument here. Very different to be some for-profit, debt mill like Grand Canyon and give athletes guaranteed schollies and full cost of attendance stipends.

You do know that FIU has the freedom to adopt every single change that UF and FSU do right? No one is holding you back from offering everything they can offer except your own willingness to belly up to the high stakes table and buy in.

And I'm sure we will. I'm speaking in general and you're speaking in specifics.
And as far as bellying up to the high stakes table, the entire G5 gets one invite while the P5 gets the other 11. I know it all about $$$ now but it's a shame the collegiate atmosphere is being driven out by the super media.

And why did the meaningless bowls decide to contract with the P5? Because they are virtually guaranteed to sell their tickets, get their viewers and make money. Low financial risk.
Why DON'T they want to contract with the G5 and had to be forced (by the P5) to take at least one G5? Because they are NOT guaranteed to sell their tickets and get their viewers and make money. High financial risk.
You want to change that? You can. Prove to the bowls that your conference will make them money with fan bases that buy tickets and watch on TV. Do that and they'll be happy to get you a tie in. Green is the only color the bowls care about.

, here we go again.
Like any cartel, the P5 wants to protect its gravy train from the interlopers; we get it. Point is, it's not about one university or other competing; it's about building barriers to keep certain members in and certain members out....like a Country Club. It's an ugly system if you ask me.

RE: Happy Autonomy Day P5!
I actually don't mind all of this autonomy business. These notions have always been prevalent in CFB, it's just now people are saying them in public.
As long as all legislation is permissive, then things are fair.
Nobody should stop Alabama or Texas A&M from cashing out on what they've built.

I would allot to be more like Ocean's Eleven, where the "goody guys" were scheming to steal money that the "bad guys" made legally. Even though in reality, in that movie the good guys are really the villains and the bay guys are really the victims.

And I would equate it more to Star Wars where the Evil Empire is desperately trying to complete their Death Star to finish off the rebels once and for all.

You keep making up this victim fantasy.
The bowls aren't controlled by the P5. They are independnet businesses that contract with the P5 because they want to make money.
You're saying its unfair that the bowls don't value your product the same way they value the P5 product without asking WHY they don't value your product as much.
You know the answer, but since it's one you don't like, you cry foul and demand that the bowls value your product equally even if they lose money to do so.
