Have fun, should be a great gameday atmosphere with Bama and the ESPN crew in town.

Get a picture of the banner they hung for winning the west but didn't make the championship game in Atlanta.

I meant to take one. All the other banners were pre 1965

I bet more than half the people in the grove don't go to the game. Probably will be a good time.

I understand they are expecting 100,000 folks. that means there will still be 50,000 in the grove during the game.

They gotta start selling alcohol. I can't sneak enough in for a 4 hour game.

I wonder what happened in 1965 that ended their success?

RE: Headed Back To The Grove This Weekend
It used to be that the Neshoba County Fair was considered the biggest party in Mississippi. That hasn't been the case for several years. I know folks from all the local schools and even as far away as Georgia and Florida who come to the Grove every weekend and never go to games - they could care less about Ole Miss football. They just want that connection to something they had back home. We have a UT family in our tailgating group that can only get to Knoxville once or twice a year and are in Oxford every other weekend. Most weekends it really is the case that two different events are going on - the football game and the tailgating. And even when Ole Miss wasn't selling out games, the Grove was always packed.

We hosted six Memphis Tigers at our tent last week and we've been doing it that way for close to 20 years now - with one exception, LSU and State folk need not apply. Some weekends are more of a hassle than others; this one promises to be one of those. But at the end of the day, it's all great fun.

I used to have mixed reservations about it all, thinking somehow The Grove detracted from the game. But I no longer believe that to be the case. Just about every recruit you talk to that has experienced it is blown away by it. Now, I'm sure it's never *THE* factor why kids choose the schools they do, but all other things being equal, that might be the thing that swings the decision to Ole Miss' favor.
