It's amazing how unpopular UVa football has become in Charlottesville.

Given that there are 65 "P5" teams, is Duke 65th among the 65, or among the 128 FBS teams? If it's the latter, that's a lot more impressive (and means some other P5 teams must be below Duke).

Some is wrong here with Wake Forest and Duke. You need to make a correction. 07-coffee3

Thanks I fixed it. These are results from an n of 65, not 128. For instance, I'm sure ECU is averaging at least 45K

Ugh! nothing to crow about if your group has 3 of the 4 lowest attendance averages

West Virginia 56,400
ECU 47,013

Another way to look at it is that you can only pack so much into a finite space. Looking at the bottom quintile of the 65 teams here is the rest of the actual attendance bottom and their percentage:

54. Oregon State 40.8K /45.6 89%
55. Colorado 36K /53.5 73%
56. Illinois 38.6 /60.6 64%
58. Kansas 36.1 / 50 72%
59. Northwestern 35.8 /47.1 76%
60. Vandy 35.7 /47.1 88%
61. Purdue 35.3 /40.6 56%
63. Washington State 32 /33.5 96%

In the contest for the most empty non-NFL stadium, Purdue seems to be on top followed by Illinois, then UVa. If you look at the crowd below 75% in a non-NFL stadiums you have Purdue, Illinois, Virginia, Colorado, Kansas and California.

"Nationally"...

...BC would fall right in between Boise State (34,124) and UTSA (33,472)

...Wake Forest would be between Arkansas State (27,586) and Louisiana Tech (26,004)

...Duke would be between Appalachian State (25,861) and Texas State (24,910)

Pitt's attendance is probably going to drop like a rock after losing to Akron.
