Find this hard to believe, but this is from one of our beat reports.

No opponent preview podcast this week guys, sorry. Like last year, Miami has basically no media coverage.

Uhhhh, yeah they do. That's the benchmark if you can or can't. UMass is on their way up -- if Miami wants to prove themselves, they need to beat them. HECK, Last year, WMU beat them at their place. Buckle up, big boy!
It's a MAC East brawl!

EDIT: If Dawan Scott plays. He went left with an injury at UB, one of the main reasons our offense stalled late in the 4th.
What happened to you and Ohio. Coming into the league had tons of respect for both programs BB and Football teams?
If we win Saturday, it will put an explanation point on your downward slid!
and Ohio? Um, what does 5 straight bowl appearances and a Sweet 16 trip mean to you? Since ya joined the league... umASS please.
Seeing we've only completed 2 years don't know how you can say 5 bowls. Did say tons of respect coming in the league for 2012, which was a good year. But you have been sliding in Football and Basketball since. Do you think you are a bowl team this year?
Ohio's football team was nationally ranked and won a bowl game AFTER UMass joined the MAC. Even with the drop off in wins last year the team still had a 4th quarter lead over a very good ECU team in a bowl game before losing in the final minutes. Hardly a decline worthy of being mentioned next to Miami's. Will Ohio be bowl eligible this year? They only need to win 3 of their next 7 games, and 4 of those are at home. I like their odds.
As for Ohio's basketball team, they were 20 minutes away from earning another NCAA bid in 2013 and finished with 24 wins. Last year they won 2 games in the CIT and 25 games overall. Sure, that's technically a drop off from winning 29 games and making it to a Sweet 16 in 2012 but its rather silly to suggest that 49 wins in 2 seasons is a drop off worthy of losing respect.
And don't forget, Ohio is the only MAC school willing to throw UMass a lifeline as an independent so far.

Yup, still have a lot of respect for Ohio. This was really about play Miami but when thinking about coming into the league, really knew you guys and Miami. (BB knew of the Zip, Flashes and a tiny bit about the Bulls.)
My perception was clouded since were able to hang with you a few years ago. We are dubbed the worst FBS program and does not speak well for the team we are hanging with.
Good luck this year, but voting against us and then agree to scheduling us is well, it is what it is. Glad we are keeping a relationship with Ohio and if MAC BB was a 2 bid league, we probably would have joined. We are not enough to raise the league as a whole so our BB would have gone down a lot. The decision was influenced by feed back from the Sun Belt commissioner, who did not have a beat on all the conference teams.

Man, are the odds in Vegas moving on some MAC games.
Akron opened a 20 point fav over EMU; now 25.
Toledo opened 12.5 point fav over WMU; now 6.
That means that almost all of the money is now coming in on Akron and Western.
Those are huge shifts in the lines.

That's interesting. I can easily see 20-21, but over 24 pts? Akron's D will shut down EMU's O.... but Akron has a Very Poor offense. They're the "Penn State" of the MAC.
If EMU has any hopes of improving during the season, building with the new coach, it's going to be to beat that spread and "only" lose by 21 or less.

At first I was thinking a touchdown difference. But I have this gut feeling it'll be more like the original line (Toledo by 12+).
While we took care of Idaho and Murray State with some ease, I'm not sure we can go toe-to-toe with the MAC's upper tier yet.
