KC Chiefs safety penalized for TD prayer
Quote:Kansas City Chiefs safety Husain Abdullah was penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct Monday night against the New England Patriots, after taking an interception for a touchdown.

Upon reaching the end zone, Abdullah knelt down to pray.

Penalty for Praying

So far I've seen some interesting feedback on this. On a local news channel here in Atlanta they reported the story but neglected to mention that Abdullah is Muslim. Most of the comments were from people screaming 'WHY CAN'T WE JUST PRAY????'

I'm curious to see how those same folks react once it blows up that he is Muslim.

As for me personally as a Christian I have no problem with it. If we're going to allow Tim Tebow and others who are Christian to take a knee and pray or do the sign of the cross, etc. then I've got no problem with Abdullah taking about 3 seconds to touch his head to the ground.

Rule is open to interpretation on how demonstrative it is.

Probably won't happen again.

So what does colonization look like, if this isn't it?

I’m guessing... if he’d dropped the ball, then heads would roll.

I think this is going to raise a left/right Christian/muslim controversy of epic proportions. This is going to be more fun than a barrel of monkeys.

The NFL will preempt such controversy and revise their policy... then go one step
further and require that all newly constructed stadiums have end zones that face Mecca.

Human rights violation by the NFL, IMO.

Per the call from the field, the penalty was for 'Dropping to the ground' I believe. Seems to me he was just excited and everyone is trying to make something out of nothing.

I pity people of the Islamic faith.. They'll never know the joys of eating a bacon sandwich or lil' smokey sausages.

I got no problem with people consuming pork, but I figure that if
Christ wouldn’t eat it, it’s probably better that I don’t eat it.

Now we get into a huge discussion over this.. Christ didn't eat it because he was Jewish and that was against the Jewish faith. Christ, although he was put to death by the Jews, was a Jew when he died.

In the book of Acts, I believe Peter, I could be wrong, was shown a vision from God about eating certain animals that Jewish people and their faith deemed unclean, but God says: Do not call unclean that which I have deemed clean. (Ok not the exact wording but the meaning is there).

That all being said, I could cut out some pork in my diet, we all could (truth be known I rarely eat pork, maybe once a week if that).

the rule book makes an exception to that rule for prayer though.

Eh, I'd have figured it would have been Brady praying the way that game went.

That all being said, I could cut out some pork in my diet, we all could (truth be known I rarely eat pork, maybe once a week if that).

Obviously that dream was an analogy dealing with offering the gospel to gentiles
and not a special dispensation on unclean foods. This is proved in the fact that Peter
(in that dream) didn’t partake of that food, but he did meat with Cornelius.

With that said, the council at Jerusalem made the decision to not withhold the gospel
to gentiles that didn’t first follow Levitical Law. Thus there is no sin associated with
eating pork or other foods that was deemed unclean for Hebrews.

I grew up in a Christian family that for generations have chosen to follow Levitical Law
as best we can. This in no way allows us to judge other that do not.
