I got no problem with people consuming pork, but I figure that if
Christ wouldn’t eat it, it’s probably better that I don’t eat it.

Now we get into a huge discussion over this.. Christ didn't eat it because he was Jewish and that was against the Jewish faith. Christ, although he was put to death by the Jews, was a Jew when he died.

In the book of Acts, I believe Peter, I could be wrong, was shown a vision from God about eating certain animals that Jewish people and their faith deemed unclean, but God says: Do not call unclean that which I have deemed clean. (Ok not the exact wording but the meaning is there).

That all being said, I could cut out some pork in my diet, we all could (truth be known I rarely eat pork, maybe once a week if that).

Obviously that dream was an analogy dealing with offering the gospel to gentiles
and not a special dispensation on unclean foods. This is proved in the fact that Peter
(in that dream) didn’t partake of that food, but he did meat with Cornelius.

With that said, the council at Jerusalem made the decision to not withhold the gospel
to gentiles that didn’t first follow Levitical Law. Thus there is no sin associated with
eating pork or other foods that was deemed unclean for Hebrews.

I grew up in a Christian family that for generations have chosen to follow Levitical Law
as best we can. This in no way allows us to judge other that do not.

As someone that grew up celebrating Passover, Channukah, and occasionally Rosh Hashannah and at the same time eating Christmas Ham, sweet and sour pork, and bacon, I have to say I'm very happy I was in my family and not yours.

But, I still laugh every time I see your post on Hinduism...classic!

That would be Hinduism.

Epic Applause

Most (by no means all) Sunday church services are over by 12:00 noon, prior to NFL kickoff times.

I well remember hurrying back to the car (the car radio, to be precise) with my father during the last hymn (about 11:55) if the Saints were playing an early game. Hazards of life in the Central Time Zone.

Mountain zone for me. When the Cowboys play in the morning, it's practically just me and the priest.

Since churches have more than one scheduled service each Sunday, did it occur to you that perhaps some men may choose to worship at another time?

That said..... it still doesn't sound right.

I'm just messing with you man. I was exaggerating a little bit of course. My church does have a 9 am mass but it's very early for some. Especially when you are nursing a hangover watching UTEP blow a win vs. TEXAS TECH.
