RE: Safety Nico Law sitting out this season
Nice pickup. 2nd string Big Ten defensive back. Likely a starter for us.

Could not disagree with you more about this being a "nice pick up". In fact, it's pretty disappointing that we have to take on other program's problem children. 04-chairshot

His exit from Iowa comes after Law was fined $100 plus $95 in court costs after entering a guilty plea to a disorderly conduct charge filed following an incident early Saturday morning at the corner of Clinton and Washington streets in downtown Iowa City.

Law was cited by Iowa City Police at approximately 1:45 a.m. on Saturday for his involvement in an altercation with another man, who according to police reports was jumped, punched and tackled by Law. The report states that Law then kicked the man and walked away from the scene.

He was apprehended about one block from the scene after being identified by name by both the victim and other witnesses.

If this is what we have to do to win games then I am pretty embarrassed.

Law was a three-star recruit out of Bishop McNamara High in Forestville, Maryland; with an offer list that included NC State, Illinois, West Virginia, and a number of mid-major programs, most thought he could contribute immediately. And while Nico showed he could Run Run Run, played on special teams as a freshman, and got some early-season depth chart love as a sophomore and junior, he could never break through.

Word was that, despite his reputation as a thunderous hitter, Law was perpetually out of position. You would be watching Iowa's defensive secondary, and Law would bite on a play action fake, and There He Goes Again right down the seam and past the safety.

We also took on Jordan Love and Telvion Clark, who had issues. How did they do?

I'm ok with it. It's one year. If he doesn't do well on or off the field, he won't play. He's not a program-changer. We haven't had a thumper back there since Dangerfield.

Young people get into altercations and fight...it happens. Hope he makes the most out of his second chance. Our team definitely needs his talent.

Does he have to watch a safety video before he can come on campus?
