I saw him play some vs UT on Sat after GA's starting safety got hurt. He bit a bit on an inside route & they went over the top to the outside receiver. I just remember the announcers pointing that out.

Sheldon Dawson out, Brian kimbrow out at vandy. Maybe it's a good thing these trouble makers don't choose memphis.

Arguing over PT

Looks like he was arguing over playng time. I saw elsewhere where he had been suspended for their bowl game last year, as well. Sounds like he just wore out his welcome, but I'd think we should consider letting him play his SR year at Memphis. We need all he help we can get & we dont have SEC-calber talent knocking the door down.

Sheldon Dawson wants to come home and our staff will be looking at him....I said before we will have some surprises this recruiting class, and its gonna be a lot better.....Staff has reached out to a few....and will look deep into this class.....The World Is Ours Memphis....

Don't we already have enough safeties that bite on play action and get beat deep when we are in cover 2?

TC, we need some surprises and it's imperative that we upgrade our recruiting level of players at all positions especially at the line and wide receivers.

Sheldon Dawson, a junior safety at Georgia and Ridgeway product, is no longer a member of the Bulldogs — and a transfer home could be on the table.

When asked Tuesday if enrolling at Memphis was an option, the former four-star prospect said, “Maybe.” Dawson played sparingly this season, recording just three tackles as a reserve.

Dawson was originally committed to Memphis in late 2011 — the biggest commitment under former coach Larry Porter — but flipped to Georgia at the last minute after Porter was fired.

... Dawson has 4.4 speed and is capable of playing on offense, as well.

I don't know why players go to sec schools then complain about pt.

It's all about ego. The players come from high school where they are "the man". Most of them cannot conceive of a situation where they can't beat out everybody else that is contending for their position. So, their line of thinking is "Would I rather start at Georgia or at Memphis? In many cases, their though process should be "Would I rather start and play right away at Memphis, or sit on the bench for 2 or 3 years at "BIG $EC school".

But, when you are 17 or 18, that last thought never crosses your mind. I saw a DB from Covington sit the bench for 2 years at an unnamed $EC school, when I was pretty sure he would have been playing all the time at Memphis.

It will never change. That brass ring at the $EC schools is so shiny that they all want to reach out and grab it.

SEC-caliber talent that doesn't get to play at SEC school even when SEC school is desperate for DB help might not be SEC-caliber talent. But he could help the Tigers. If he doesn't have an attitude. Which it seems he does.

Dawson has always had attitude problems. The dismissal (or whatever you want to call it) doesn't surprise those who have coached him, played with him, etc. I'm actually surprised he lasted this long...

That being said, he is supremely talented, as if Kimbrow, and if either player wants a second (and final) chance at Memphis, we should take them. At the first sign of trouble...he gone. Low risk, high reward.

The Pastner doctrine, in other words.
It's a luxury we can now afford to put into place in FB.
