RE: 2for1 at coaches show
Tonight at the coaches show Monty said Highsmith is about 80%. So based on that I would say he is probably 70%. I have changed my line-up. Baker over Orris. I think Orris starts around conference season. Orris is the better player I believe. I think Monty will make him earn it in games. Johnson will start in place of Dontel due to Dontel not being 100%. Aaric Armstead, Bowie and Threloff our for sure starters. Unlike last year we will have enough offense even if Dontel is not healthy!

YES! We scored 62.2pts last year with-out Dontel and our opponents scored 62.9.

They shot 39% as a team and nearly had a 1:2 A/T ratio. The offense was horribly inefficient.

I don't know what your point was with your last post? They were bad at scoring last year but not much worse than their opponents. You said they wont have enough offense without Highsmith. I believe this year they will. Last year they did not that is true. When NIU wins the MAC this year people will think its amazing. The truth is they were there last year they just couldn't afford to lose their best scorer. This years team has many more options and a lot more experience and talent!

If Highsmith is not 100% at the start of the season do not burn his redshirt. I have said and believe you don't count on him this year. If he is healthy its a bonus. They will be awesome with him and still very good if he has to sit out!

Currently there is no reason to think Highsmith wont be 100 percent to start the year based on his comments, he is ready to go.

I tore my ACL and 2/3 of my MCL in a sports injury. Granted surgeries have come a long way but I have no idea how basketball players come back and perform at a high level after this injury.

Some do and it amazes me when it happens. After recovering or more or less recovering physically you need to overcome your psychological and somewhat involuntary reflex to protect your surgically repaired knee. I never could get past the psychological part and fully trust my knee again.

Well said bikechuck, you never know what's going on in a guys head. You don't count on him and if he is good to go its a bonus! The truth is everyone has a unique and different experience with this sort of injury.

He's not going to be 100% this season, let alone at the start of the year. People don't realize how hard of a battle it is to come back from. All of this positive news should be taken with a grain of salt, teams never say that things are going bad. Remember all of the positive news and how great Derrick Rose and RG3 looked in practice?

RE: 2for1 at coaches show
Dontel will be 100% by conference hopefully. Thats where it all starts. We definitely have scoring this year compared to last year. So much more. The thing we lacked last year was passing. That is what Orris brings to the table, passing. Baker getting a year older only helps with that too. I think Dekalb222 might be right about Baker starting with Dontel not at 100%, just to help the scoring a bit, but when Dontel is 100% then Orris will start. Passing is for Orris, scoring is for Baker. I don't think Johnson will start, Dontel will. If not Dontel then someone with NIU game experience like Aaron Armstead. That is a Monty thing. His system is important. Johnson might be better but experience prevails.

I see Dontel walk around campus sometimes and he has definitely improved. He still walks a little weird but he'll be fine.
