Officiating during the Ole Miss game
So IMO the officiating was pretty poor on both sides during the Ole Miss game, but did anyone that was watching it on TV notice the horrid ball spotting the officials were consistently giving Ole Miss? I remember one instance, a referee spotted the ball (which was favorable for Ole Miss) and another ref picked it up putting it past the first down marker. I was flabbergasted.

It's been bad all year across the board IMO. Too many stoppages in play as well. But I guess that's what we gotta have to get the calls right.

I've been wating for someone to post about this. I was stunned as I watched that, too! The announcers either didn't see it or just didn't care. It was so out of whack! I paused the game on my DVR and replayed the 3rd down play and clearly saw the OM player fall short of the obvious first down line (which matched up with the sideline marker). The player even tried to stretch and shimmy to reach it, but still fell short. The first ref placed it short of first down, then the second one repositioined it right on the line and signaled first down! No one protested from our sideline, either! 01-wingedeagle

There may be a lot of things to complain about regarding the game Saturday night, but unfavorable officiating wouldn't be in the top 100.

I'd have to say the most bizarre thing I ever saw was at a Dead show in Charlotte, VA in 1984.

Yeah, we've seen worse in Oxford, much worse. Sad thing was these were AAC refs...

He wasn't complaining about unfavorable officiating. He is talking about poor officiating. ON BOTH SIDES.

The pass called a backwards pass was God awful. The PI against us when the announcers said was a great call was terrible. Unless he hooded the guy with off arm is was no where near early. The spotting of the ball was insane. One play player was laying on ground stretched out and the ball was not at the line and they still gave it to them.

RE: Officiating during the Ole Miss game
I've noticed numerous times over the years that when we play an SEC team they get generous spots. It's like nobody cares about fair play and sanctity of the game and holds refs accountable for it. I guess the general consensus is that the more popular team should get breaks over the outsiders.

And what about the fair-catch signal that OM made on the punt, then he took off running. That is AUTOMATIC, but they didnt throw a flag.
All in all, I thought it was an oddly-called game, but I didnt think we got a raw deal.
