RE: Week 6 Games
ECU and Marshall both just dominating their games today. ECU probably to be expected vs SMU, but Marshall is dominating what might be the toughest team in their schedule, ODU, but looking very good. The committee is going to have a real tough decision whether to grab a 1 loss ECU or undefeated Marhsalll, will be interesting to see which way they lean. I still would take a 1 loss ECU over Marshall.

Marshall is going to end up playing the equivalent of five or six FCS teams this season. Their schedule is worse than any one they played back when they dominated the MAC as they always played at least one P5 OOC. I just cannot see the committee going for that over a one loss ECU. With this being the inaugural season of the new format I think the committee will make a statement by rewarding win quality over win quantity. Our AD seems to think this will be the case as well as he has repeatedly said strength of schedule and building up the resume carries more weight these days. I know games are scheduled years in advance but Marshall's schedule is a total embarrassment for a team that wants to be considered a contender. I remember when they had a play anyone anywhere mentality to scheduling but I guess after leaving the MAC and posting numerous sub .500 seasons the decided to chase the low hanging fruit for wins. I think even a one loss NIU could be more in the conversation come season end if Northwestern ends up looking respectable and we end up playing and beating Akron in the MACC.

You are probably right, how about this scenario which in fact could be more likely...Marshall undefeated and Cincinatti/ECU with 2 losses. It would be hard to not take Marshall in that situation but I think that really exposes a weakness in the system if a team can play that schedule and get into a major bowl. Not to pull a Herbstreit, but that schedule is far and beyond the weakest I have ever seen an FBS team play. If Marshall at least won a conf championship game, I think you could make an argument, but without that, its just really tough for me to accept that.

Their schedule will end up worse than the year we made the Orange Bowl as at least we got a win over a ranked team in Kent, beat a Big 12 team, and only lost one to a P5 team. For as much crap as we took that year it was much better than what Marshall could be putting down on their resume come season end. They won't get any help from CUSA either as everyone in that league has at least 2 losses already.

It is still very early but I think even a one loss NIU could have a shot over a no loss Marshall. We end up playing two of the same teams in Ohio and Miami, and could also get a shot at Akron in the MACC if things fall in. Akron may end up being Marshall's signature win this season which is sad. We also still have Toledo which is higher ranked than anyone left on Marshall's schedule. I really do think the spot is ECU's to lose but there is a lot of football left to be played.

ECU is definitely in the best position no doubt. One thing though that maybe makes me think ECU if having 2 losses wouldn't be an automatic choice over a 1 loss NIU. ECU's signature winds vs VA Tech and UNC just don't look as good as they did at the time. UNC is a complete mess right now.

They look nice, but it's not helping them on the field. Down 34-10 to Mississippi State!

At least I can be comfortable in the knowledge that Tim Beckman's days are numbered. What an incompetent clown.

RE: Week 6 Games
Ugly win today. Positive note, we won playing a poor game. We always seem to have a bad game to start MAC play. Kent State and Akron last year, 2012 it was Ball State (We won by 12 or 14 points but it was an ugly game), 2011 it was Central Michigan. I think we will be fine. But hate watching those games.

Bring on the Chips! Should be another close game. They beat Purdue and Ohio.
