VOTE for our Week # 5 - Sun Belt Freshman of the Week - VOTE
PLEASE VOTE FOR OUR FRESHMAN (or RS Freshman) Sun Belt Football Player for Week Five
☗☗☗☗☗☗☗☗☗☗☗☗☗☗☗☗☗☗☗☗☗☗☗☗☗☗☗☗☗☗☗☗☗☗☗☗☗☗☗☗☗☗☗☗☗☗☗☗☗☗☗☗☗☗

Since the Sun Belt does not do a Freshman football player of the
week, who would you nominate for that from this week? Games of the week of 9/27/2014.
(10/1/2014 - nominations ended...please vote above on poll).

Get with it Sun Belt and add this to your Players of the Week.
Freshman, or red shirt freshman included.

I plan to do a poll after we get the nominations.
Only one per school, unless extreme circumstances.
Nominations close 8 PM CT , Tuesday , September 30th.

Remember:
Normally, one player nomination per school.
If two have to be included may divide the votes for the other player.
Include stats for the player nominated, and make sure the stats are accurate. Don't guess about stats.
Try to include things appropriate like number of rushes, or passes,
# passes completed or received, yards, # of TDs, # Interceptions, additional accomplishments, # of tackles or sacks.

Congratulations to Johnston White, stAte, RB, 18 carries,100 yards, 1TD - Our Week # 4 Sun Belt Freshman of the Week.

Congratulations to Matt Linehan QB Idaho 27 for 41 passing,362 yds, 3pass/1 run TDs, Our Week #3 Sun Belt Freshman of the Week.

Congratulations to Matt Linehan - Idaho- QB 24/47 - 324 yards - 3TD* as Our Week #2 Sun Belt Freshman of the Week.

Congratulations to Larry Rose III of NMSU who had 149 rushing yards and 2 TDs as our first unofficial Sun Belt Freshman of the Week - for Week 1 - week of 8/30/2014. Sounds like he had a heck of a game, especially to be his first college football game.

RE: Nominations for our Week # 5 - Sun Belt Freshman of the Week
Guess I will start out, in a losing effort, Taylor Lamb, QB, App State - 23 of 42, for 256 yards, 2 int, 8 for 29 rushing for 1 TD.

What freshman or red shirt freshman at any position contributed more in the GaSo game App State fans?
Got a feeling there may have been someone.

we really just don't have many freshman that play big roles on our team.

All in a lopsided loss, but

NMSU's QB Andrew Allen showed off his wheels:
5 carries for 113 yds, 22.6 yd/cary, fueled by a 79 td run against LSU.

And Defensive Back Dalton Herrington:
6 tackles, a sack, and a fumble recovery

Yeah, we kind of noticed you didn't have many freshmen playing.
You don't even have one on defense or special teams that contributed a lot?

I went to the box scores to check his stats, since he had been our freshman of the week for 2 weeks already, against LSU and he didn't show up.

He's with that other team, out west, and up north.

Looks like he didn't have his best day against USA - was this an example of USA's speedy defense playing up to expectation?
We may be fortunate not to play them this year.

Oh crap, that's right. All you more Western teams seem the same right now I guess. Will change when we play Idaho later this year, and NMSU in a couple of years. Sorry about that.

Looks as if Matt Linehan, not Lineham, had 25 of 40 passing, 239 yards, 1 TD, 2 int, with 13 for -39 yards rushing for Idaho.
Seems he has minus yards rushing most of the time, odd.

USA sacked him 7 times.

USA's defense has played well all year. We've held Idaho, Georgia Southern, and Mississippi State to season lows in total offense. It's our offense in which we've had issues. Our defensive stats would be better if our offense was able to execute. But what was different in this game is that we were able to pressure Linehan all game and forced him into some bad throws and 7 sacks.

Ramsby is our main threat to put up Fr POTW type stats, but he is a converted qb and not our featured back, so he's had a td in every game but not that impressive on the total yards or YPC line. I'll venture a guess that he busts out for 100+ and multiple TD's at some point this year though. Our other significant Fr contributor is Sapp on the DL, he's played really well--sucking up blocks and allowing linebackers to make plays, getting some qb pressure, etc. but he probably won't be in the running for this type of award until he has a game with multiple sacks and maybe a FF or 2.

Yeah, I remember more than one game where Ramsby had like 26 yards and a TD. Makes you think he scores a lot considering how little he must get the ball.

Ramsby gets a lot of his carries in the RZ. He's a bit more stout than Breida.

These are the ones posters have nominated.

Taylor Lamb, QB, App State - 23 of 42, for 256 yards, 2 int, 8 for 29 rushing for 1 TD

NMSU's QB Andrew Allen showed off his wheels:
5 carries for 113 yds, 22.6 yd/carry, fueled by a 79 td run against LSU

NMSU Defensive Back Dalton Herrington:
6 tackles, a sack, and a fumble recovery

Alfred Ramsby 16t carries for 51 yards and a TD for GaSo

Matt Linehan, Idaho had 25 of 40 passing, 239 yards, 1 TD, 2 int, with 13 for -39 yards rushing

Troy QB Brandon Silvers against ULM had 23 of 34 for 270 yards 3TD 0 int. and 14 rushes for 32 yards
From a mention by a ULM poster. Thanks. Looks as if he had a good game in a losing cause against ULM.
