Do guns save lives?
A study in the journal Injury Prevention found that the purchase of a handgun was associated with 2.4 times the risk of being murdered and 6.8 times the risk of suicide. Several other studies confirm that a gun in the house significantly increases the risk that a person in the home will be murdered or commit suicide.

Do cars save lives?

I want one if someone I love is seriously hurt. Would want to have it to save them. (Kinda like wanting a gun to be able to defend them from someone intent on hurting them, too.)

Even less dramatic, is my need to get to work. Without the money I make from working, my family wouldn't eat. But, I need a car to get to work. And with my rifle, I actually do shoot deer meet that we eat.

And yet, several studies have shown beyond any reasonable doubt that those who have cars are much more likely to die from car wrecks than those who don't (especially if they use them). And having a car to commit suicide, increases the odds you'll use it to commit suicide with it.

Let's ban those evil cars. Statistics show we should if we're serious about saving lives.

Knives kill people. And they also allow me both to prepare, and then later to eat a venison fillet. But ban 'em anyway.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. It's not guns, and not knives, but hands that kill people. Cut off our hands and the world would be a much safer place!

Lungs kill people. But only when they inhale. However, without hands, lungs couldn't inhale those cigarettes. So it still gets down to hands. Hands down.

I like how the gun nuts use a flawed straw man argument while failing to touch the point made in the OP.

Yes, I pointed it out, rather handily. And by digital means.

Yes guns save lives!!

Just look at Australia and their crime rates, rape...since that country confiscated their citizens' firearms.
