I was saying that it wasn't the defense that gave up most of those points. Credit goes to the FIU defense and to the two big plays from the FIU offense. But the fact remains that the UAB offense did not look anything like what I had seen in the first three games. Those mistakes were not being made, even when we played a better defense in Mississippi State.

And my only point is that 'Mistakes' don't happen in a vacuum. There has to be outside forces causing those mistakes.

I see what you're trying to do here but given all the beat-down comments coming from all you UAB fans PRIOR to the game, I'm not in a real sympathetic mood right about now.

Look congrats on your win.. No one cares about your mood on an online sports forum, sorry. Our team did not come out prepared at all for this game. FIU made plays and capitalized on our mistakes. I do believe that a different UAB team will take the field vs. WKU.

Maybe when you have more than 5 posts around here someone will care about what you have to say, until then, not so much.

And your shallow cliche about your team 'not being prepared for the game' only goes to illustrate your myopic view of what happened on Saturday. Obviously the game circumstances will play out differently against WK but some glaring weaknesses have been exposed in your offense.

Dude, why in the hell are you still talking about this game? We gave you your respect after the loss and commended your team's performance giving all of the travel trouble FIU had getting to Birmingham.

Yes we have QB issues. But guess what? Our offense is still better than FIU's offense. Your QB can't throw a lick either. He just didn't throw any INTs from what I recalled. It's time for you to let this go.

It's one phucking game man. FIU nor UAB are worldbeaters so how about you just worry about your next game and we UAB fans will worry about WKU. I don't think we need Kirk Herbstreit....I mean you telling about our glaring weaknesses.

RE: WKU vs UAB game thread
So, now that we're back on topic....

History:

WKU leads the series 3-2 but those 5 games were from 1993-1997 when UAB had started their football program and moved to I-A. WKU won the first 3 when UAB was still I-AA and lost the last two when UAB was I-A and WKU was still I-AA.

1993 - WKU won in BG 40-13
1994 - WKU won in B'ham 31-22
1995 - WKU won in BG 32-18
1996 - UAB won in B'ham 24-0
1997 - UAB won in B'ham 20-16

This should be a fun game Saturday.

reread this thread, esp. post #9, and you'll see how we were pulled into this discussion.

Good luck against the red towel wavers.

Again Congratulations on the win FIU.

Now on to WKU. Wish this was on TV. Looks like I will be stuck in Atlanta and can't make it.

I'm always hesitant to recommend College Sports Live (All Access), but I hear WKU usually does a good job with production.

Indeed. And about time we resumed this series. I was still in undergrad when it started.

I know you guys have a formidable air force/stud QB. What can you tell me about your kicking game?

Not sure if you are serious or not asking about our kicking game haha, but will answer your ? and assume you are.....Our Junior PK Garrett Schwettman has been solid this season and only handles extra points and field goals....He does not have a very particular strong leg, but he is usually accurate 40 yards and in....Our kickoff guy is not great though as he cannot usually kick it in the end zone and sometimes kicks it out of bounds...Our punter is a sophomore who has improved some this season, he has not been on the field a ton so far this season..

Sounds solid enough. I guess D is your weakest spot then. Line, secondary, both?

As an aside, I was at the UAB-Troy game and was very impressed with the atmosphere. Hate that I'll miss the game this weekend, but I'm looking forward to next year's game down here!

Defense is very weak. Our pass rush (except against Navy) is nearly nonexistent and we're weak against the run. Our pass defense is decent. Our secondary isn't as weak as our interior.

Yep. As I feared. A scoring contest... I guess the story of the game is going to be our defense against your offense; Heavy object (but moveable) vs. unstoppable force, respectively.

We won't stop you from scoring. It'll be if we can slow you down enough...

We have a running game against weaker lines. And our green (and gold haha) qbs can do a little if they have no time limit.

I believe, and someone will correct me if I'm wrong, that we lost 8 starters from last year's D......so we're young. They've had moments of wtf and many moments of holy shiite these boys are gonna be good....typical of a young defense learning the ropes.
