Conf Champion QB's for UCF's conferences since 2002
UCF joined their first conf back in 2002 (MAC).

With ECU is being lead by a 5th year (3rd year starter), and is probably the big favorite (at least early) to win the AAC, here's a glance back at the conf champion QB's from UCF's 3 conferences (MAC, CUSA, AAC) as experience, even if not considered a "great" QB, seems to have been a big factor in many of these team's success.

2013: UCF Conf Champs: 4th year QB Bortles
2012: Tulsa Conf Champs: 4th year QB (Nebraska transfer) Cody Green
2011: USM Conf Champs: 5th year QB, 3 years as a starter, Austin Davis
2010: UCF Conf Champs: 1st year QB Godfrey
2009: ECU Conf Champs: 6th year QB Pinkney (due to redshirting then injuries)
2008: ECU Conf Champs 5th year QB Pinkney
2007: UCF Conf Champs 4th year QB Israel
2006: Houston Conf Champs 4th year QB, 4 year starter Kevin Kolb
2005: Tulsa Conf Champs: 3rd year QB Paul Smith
2004: Toledo: 3rd year Gradkowski
2003: Miami, OH: 4th year QB, 3rd year starter Ben Roethlisberger
2002: Marshall: 5th year QB, 3rd year starter Byron Leftwich

NOTE: Godfrey was the only starting QB to win a conf title during UCF's conf runs with less than 3 years of college experience.

Godfrey had a young QB's best friends. Good D and a heck of a running game.

Same could be said for 5th and 6th year Pinkney.

I think experience is key...as usually by then (one's 3rd, 4th, 5th...or the above 6th year), Coaches generally know what their QB's can and can't do...(same for QB's).

Not making bone head mistakes go a long way...and most experienced QB's are generally pretty good at avoiding those game-changing mistakes.

Many times those QB's are asked to win games....their focus is on not losing them.

NOTE: Some teams on the above list struggled after their experienced QB moved on...as its so hard to re-load at this level (heck or at any level).
