Not gonna happen.

And that's weird to me because we recruited Wolfe and John Hughes those were two elite DT that are starting in the NFL now.

Big East was considered a Power conference back then...even if it was considered the worst of the 6, it was still among them.

What bothers me about the D-line is they got pushed around by Toledo and Miami.

Yep...that's what happens when you spend the last three years recruiting tweener athletes, basketball players who have never played football, and OL'men who are immediately changed to DL and vice versa. Look back at out last three classes. The players who are still on campus, or even made it there for that matter, are mostly skill position players.

I don't really follow the x's and o's of football as much as basketball, but I also didn't get TT's comments after the Ohio State game about the cornerbacks looking like they were running in mud (I assume it was a comment about the OSU speed difference).

It looked to me like Toledo and Miami ran by them also. Maybe more a function of no pressure on the QB.

There's a lot of truth there. We haven't been able to recruit a good DL since BK's second year. The defenses in 2012 and 2013 looked a lot better than they actually were in large part by the additions of JUCO's and 5th year senior transfers.

I have made the point the last couple years in regards to recruiting that every once in a while you can find a diamond in the rough (the talented kid who played limited HS football or had a huge growth spurt late in life, ie. Walter Stewart), but you are not going to find that guy every year and you certainly can't recruit multiple guys like that in one class.

Our conference situation has certainly been a factor in our recruiting woes but if we are being honest schools like UCF, ECU and Houston have recruited talented DL and they were never part of an AQ BCS conference (save me the one year pass that UCF and Houston got last year).

Then why not put in 3 LB's and fill the box with at least 7. Several times last night we just rushed 2 (DE's went out to cover the flat) and left Luc in the middle to spy on a QB who he couldn't catch.

No pressure on Barrett was just silly....no, it was dumb.

In the first half, they came after Barrett a little bit, but it resulted in whiffed sacks, scrambles to extend drives, and a few big plays down the field. In the second half, it looked like the adjustment was to stay in lanes and just occupy space so JT had to throw a little (into 7 or 8 defenders) to beat us. It didn't work either, but I don't really blame for them for trying that. UC's fundamental problem is not scheme. They simply don't win 1 on 1 battles against good teams and the tackling technique in space is garbage. That isn't rocket science, but it's a hard problem to fix. The offense is going to keep giving them chances, but they'll have to improve of we could struggle to stop anyone, including Memphis this week.
