I think it's because he Hates WMU. He coached Grand Valley -- the D2 school here in MI. And at CMU, yeah, he punked us many times.

THEN, against Cinci, he was there and beat us. He wanted a "3rd time's a charm".

As I've said before -- he played Rice. He's playing Nevada soon. Add to that Navy & Army in the same year and not separate due to tradition -- with him, they have no anti-mid-major thing going on.

Playing NIU is NOT going to hurt their image. They just don't want a feisty shark after them who doesn't Look (=have national coverage as big team) as good as the really are. They kinda want the opposite - lol.

Jeez, MD, don't you think he's sort of proven to everyone that he's a bad head coach by now? (I wouldn't put it past the Illini to hire him anyway, thinking the third time's a charm) But he's almost certainly going to be a coordinator for the rest of his days, which he's proven he can do successfully.

as long as he has Tom Brady as his QB.With his health, retire and soend all that money. Weiss comes and and immediately gets rid of 25 players to show whos boss, that makes it necessary to go the JC route the next year. After Turner Gill and this mess KU is a deep mess. What will they do? They will go out and spend more money for a guy.
