If Marshall goes 13-0 (wins conf championship game), it might be hard for even a 11-1 ECU team to jump them, regardless what "polls say".

I disagree but let's see if either gets to that position. Long way to go still

are we going with just record or actual team..

i think most consider the Georgia Southern the best in the Sunbelt..ulm has cruised ans strugggled on a easy schedule

and boise is still considered the best in the MWC

ecu is already above them by like 10 poll spots, the committe starts polling in 2 weeks, their is not 1 team on marshall schedule that would have any living soul put marshall over ecu,

ecu will 100% get it if they finish 11-1

Boise might be considered the best MWC but at 3-2 and a conference loss they are not at top of conference right now. The same for Georgia Southern

You are correct, that is the worst schedule I have ever seen

Long way to go and both ECU and Marshall have a history of crapping the bed in games that they should win.

I think your right on this one. The G5 team that goes undefeated in their conference and that wins their conference championship game will get the bid just like non BCS teams had to go undefeated to make a BCS bowl in the past. Long season yet though and ECU is nipping at Marshall's heels if they drop one on the way. 07-coffee3

what??? you realize that those undefeated non-aq team all had decent schedules with atleast 1 p5 game, also that the old bcs system is gone

every human poll and every computer currently has marshall dramatically lower ranked than ecu

the commitee has non stopped preached about schedule, they even set up a voting system that makes sure everyone schedule is looked at, they vote six at a time, also noting that the majority of committe is connected to the P5..

in all honestly if ecu finishes 11-1 they will 100% get it, and will almost certainly be ranked 5-8 spots higher in the committee poll than an undefeated marshall and it wont even be close.. mtsu or akron will finish as their best win

RE: Access Bowl after week 5
This might sound like a homer (and perhaps ridiculous) but Temple controls their own destiny as well. If they run the table they will have beaten Vanderbilt (if they win a SEC game or two), Penn State (upcoming game), ECU, and Cincy.

Cincy perhaps controls their own destiny as well if they can beat ECU and MIami.

Outside the AAC it's obvious, but very unlikely, that La Monroe does control their own destiny by running the table and beating Texas A&M and Kentucky. Heck, if they beat A&M and lose to Kentucky they're still in the running if the win the rest.

If Nevada runs the table by beating BYU and Boise they are a danger for getting in.

RE: Access Bowl after week 5
Pirates came out of the OOC games ranked with BYU the best two of the non-cartel schools. Will be hard for Marshall or anyone else out there to pass them if they win out. However that is easier said than done. The AAC race is far from over...

Temple, USF, Cincy and UCF all have assets to be able to beat ECU if the Pirates falter any at all. Temple looks most complete and to me the biggest challenge with UCF next. UC has a great offense but the D still hasn't jelled not that they can't. USF has great speed on the D but the QB play is hurting them. SMU, Tulsa and Tulane just don't have the horses. Memphis has the best D so far in the conference but not on the schedule. Temple, Cincy and USF on the road too.

RE: Access Bowl after week 5
I think an undefeated Marshall can get it over an 11-1 ECU, but they have to look dominate to do it. The committee has said strength schedule, but they have also said they will ultimately choose the one they feel is "best." Marshall doesn't have much in schedule strength so they'll have to convince by being dominant in most games. Any less than that and I think an 11-1 ECU or Cincinnati would beat them.

That said, it's only week 5. I wouldn't bet on both Marshall and ECU going undefeated the rest of the way (even if there isn't an individual game I don't like them in).

i dont think it'll make difference..if they were dominating the houstons, ucfs, navys, nevadas, nius, sdsus... i might kinda agreee, but no one on their schedule has any name recognition or clout..
literally anyone on their schedule they blowout, they'll say they are expected to blowout, and it wont be considered impressive..

ODU will be a top 3 team they play this year, if they blew out odu, no one is going to crown them any bonus points for that, blowing out fiu, fau, wku, mtsu, uab (which are the best teams theyll play) isnt going to get them any browny points..
theyd need akron to win the mac in convincing fashion and finish off all their games with a 70-7 type scores for them to jump ecu

Not one of their remaining opponents has beaten a cartel team. They are not playing a cartel team this year. So the biggest name right now they can point to its Akron.

Marshall is already behind ECU,. if both win out, why would Marshall jump ECU?

If it comes down to the Peach Bowl I think they will prefer The Pirates. The 91 game was full of Purple... Plus Shane Carden is getting his name out there with Hardy on track to become the All Time leader in the NCAA for receptions in a career.... nice things to hype.

Temple has trouble running the ball and hasn't hit the hard part of their schedule. Realistically I hope for 6 wins to get in a bowl.
