RE: Game Week Akron
I have been waiting to form an opinion until the MAC season starts. If this team continues to get badly outclassed on the field during the conference slate, it will be a massive disappointment. Most were counting Old Dominion as a win in the preseason and I thought that was a mistake. They are a decent program, as proven by their win over the defending C-USA champs. Being 1-3 is not a surprise at this point. Being blown out at FSU and MSU, sadly, was not a surprise, although 49-14 would have looked so much better than the scores we had. The opener against Morgan State was disappointing in that it is one of those games, against a so-so FCS team, that an FBS teams should soundly handle at home.

Still, I think it is prudent to wait and see how EMU competes during MAC play before issuing a full assessment.

In honor of Akron week, I changed my avatar to a photograph I took in July of InfoCision stadium. I walked the perimeter by the rails where the photograph was obviously taken.

I find it to be a very well thought out stadium with a nice seating bowl, club seats, sweet suites, but no seats in the end zones. And look at how the lights are actually attached to the top of the stadium, rather than with poles.

The sight lines appear to be excellent.

And the handicapped seating is where?

I didn't ask. No one was to be found. I was driving to Detroit on July 4.

You could e-mail the Akron Sports Information Director and ask.

IF EMU makes significant changes to Rynearson maybe they can incorporate any experience from new stadiums.

I assume most ADA came into effect in the 90s and by then all of Rynearson had been constructed as we see it today.

1. New stadiums all have handicap accessibility- as it is the law.
2. Why are you complaining to Steve about it?

Bob, your statement about new stadiums speaks for itself.

Actually, I think I know the answer to #1, as it would pertain to Rynearson.

When our church was considering remodel/renovation vs. rebuild the question of ADA came up.

I remember that if the remodel is significant (e.g., more than new HVAC, lighting, etc.) ADA must be incorporated into the remodel.

IF EMU remodels Rynearson, it would need to be ADA compliant.

I'm extrapolating here, but a new press box would need to be ADA compliant as it would meet the requirements of a significant renovation.

I'm curious about the ADA status of the Convo (completed 1998).

im not and yes it has to ada compliant but by the seat chart there isn't any handicapped seating which means if ask for it they they'll find a place for you some place that no one else wants! i was EMUs students with disabilities representative for 3 1/2 years i know the ADA and it's short comings! to say you meet the ADA is an insult. that means you don't really care and are only doing it because you have to! do you go into a job interview and brag about making the minimum grades to get your degree? I bet you don't but thats what it means when you claim to be ADA compliant! 05-mafia

the convo is ADA compliant barely. I was promised 8 handicapped seats at floor level i was even given th plans for that seating guess it wasn't done . we are stuck at the four corners and right behind the baskets places paying people don't want and wouldn't sit in unless it was a full house. furing the volleyball tournament we had here guess where they put the video and announcer at? in the handicapped seating area i had been using all year!

"And the handicapped seating is where?"

Infocision Stadium has handicapped seating on the concourse level in every section. See link for the stadium diagram. They ADA sections are combo type handicapped seating with both fixed chair-back seats and open spots for wheelchairs so families can stay together.

Thanks. And to Akron: "Very well done."

Orioles' Camden Yards is similar. Has area for wheel chairs at the concourse level and the last row of seats (in the sections which extends to the playing field) has extra space between it and the next lower row to make it more amenable to those whose mobility is impaired.

O/T: Go Tigers. Beat the O's at Camden Yards today. 04-cheers

Sadly I agree. I can't predict our offense to put up points until they prove they can. Hopefully the full bye week with Bolden as the starter helps the cohesion a bit, but I don't know if it'll matter. Akron isn't an offensive juggernaut, but this one probably won't be competitive.

I didn't find Akron's win over Pitt that impressive. Pitt will be a middle of the pack ACC team at best. I haven't been blown away by their defense either. That said, I still have trouble seeing us put up a lot of points against them. I see something like 31-17.

The optimist in me is looking forward to Buffalo. I think that's a winnable game.

To me, Akron's defense has been very good except for the Marshall game. Not bad vs. Penn State. Their offense isn't much.

I'm hoping Akron comes out flat tomorrow.
