1. Marshall-clear cut favorite
2. MTSU - win against WKU was not a fluke, LOL
3. WKU-Still worried about our defense so we shall see; offense rolling to say the least
4. La. Tech - I think the loss to Northwestern St. will turn out to be a fluke in the long run; WKU had similar loss in 2011 and ended up having a good season
5. UTSA- solid team with defense and experience will be their in the end
6. FAU - a lot better than I thought and will upset some teams before its all said and done

7. ODU- maybe a wakeup call last game? Still young to FBS and as a WKU fan, been there done that
8.Rice-I think will be up their in the end
9. UTEP - Much improved team looks like to me this season but still a little ways to go
10. FIU- Certainly playing a lot better but jury remains out on UAB
11. North Texas-just a hunch they will be passed in the West
12. UAB-Hope this does not bit me in the you know what, but their win vs. Troy looks less and less impressive that coupled with a head scratcher for a loss might bring UAB fans back down to earth..Bright side for UAB could be they are a much better road team which WKU has been last several seasons...(still a tad nervous about Sat. vs you guys)
13. USM-until proven otherwise

Don't mean to doubt your rankings, but shouldn't the bolded pair be switched?

RE: Week 5 cusa power rankings
You won a close game at home against UTSA. It was a good win, but at their place they would probably be favored and it's probably a pick em game on a neutral field. Basically interchangeable.

For the record, I picked FAU as the #2 team in the east and UTSA as the #1 in the west preseason. I still believe it could play out that way.

When one beats one head to head, a few days ago, i could see why they should be switched. It would be like oregon beating fsu but fsu remaining ahead of them.

Why? Yes FAU won at home but I maintain UTSA is the better OVERALL team and more than likely would beat FAU more than half the time out of 10 times.......UTSA will finish season higher overall than FAU......To me power rankings while weekly still are who you think will finish after the regular season is over, I simply think UTSA will have a better record than FAU....Its all subjective and happens all the time...Hell CBS sports has us below Bowling Green and we beat them down when they had their starting Senior QB....

RE: Week 5 cusa power rankings
I believe power rankings should reflect the current state of the league not what it might wind up being.

Agreed. Hence the weekly ratings. Otherwise they would never change from week 1
