when you talk about our cultural dominance ==> yes we certainly were lucky. Our african american population gave us a nice musical twist while still being european enough to be accepted by europe back in the first half of the 1900s. also being able to dominate the movie business payed unprecedented dividends as well for 100+ years.

we also had luck economically. american entrepreneurs pushed an "all automobile" society well before europe did. during WWII the germans still used horses for a surprisingly large percentage of their transportation needs. also WWII crushed the economy/infrastructure of every major economy except ours.

We should go back to horses, John.

you should go back to sportshoopla...

That's your hangout. Not mine.

We never needed acceptance from Europe.

I mean seriously, the one message forum that prides itself in douchebaggery thinks you are too much of a douchebag to post there. How does that feel?

Because we kicked Europe's ass for our independence. I wonder how the other posters feel about you suggesting this forum pride's itself in douchebaggery.

yeah, how dare they not agree with delusional conservative ideology.

those commies!!!!!07-coffee3

Nice title the HoPo used - "rewrite of history" 03-lmfao03-lmfao

What the Board did was endorse bad behavior and their actions will probably enable kids to protest other things in the future, like say...ummmm....crappy school lunches. High school kids don't decide what they're going to be taught, that's what grown ups are for.

Education is a life long skill that has huge implications on ones life. I'd say these kids have the right to fight for it. These kids are politically aware and are actually valuing their education, the proper response would be to say that's a good thing rather than ***** about how they refuse to role over and just accept your bullsh.it line of thinking.

They're fighting against education, not for it. Nice try w/ the Orwellian doublespeak.

The hypocrisy of the left on this thread is relentless. They want liberal ideals shoved down our throats, and then get mad because we disagree, and say that we wouldn't be mad if it was Conservative views shoved down the throats.

How about just keeping it real, which would mean taking the books BACK to where they were pre-2000. History gets altered, the left loves it, normal people want books to go back to the truth of it all, and the left gets pissed off and says that it would mean rewriting history. Man, talk about some fuuuuuuucked up minds, you lefties take all that cake. Good Lord.

Yes, making vague assertions of liberal bias is so much easier than actually citing examples.

We'll, there was one book that devoted three times more space to Cesar Chavez than George Washington.

That's ridiculous and there are hundreds of examples like that.

Cesar Chavez? Really?

Thats...not citing an example. You need a citation and not a vague claim.

wouldn't surprise me if what really happened has been exaggerated 1000% while omitting key details.

seriously the guy you are debating is a full blown conservative revisionist who the other day was arguing with me about "value of property rights" as being the key reason why we are not like mexico

*facepalm*

What is he trying to revise?

How about just keeping it real, which would mean taking the books BACK to where they were pre-2000.

Try pre-1960.

the stupidity on the right is amazing. no one here is advocating liberal ideology to be taught in the classroom. what liberals are advocating is for a school board to not whitewash/misrepresent history in the name of promoting conservative values.
