Tulane MBB recruiting picking up in the AAC
Nola.com on next visit

Kipper Nichols

Jacob Evans

Well, we have yet to land a big recruit yet but we have had some pretty damn solid prospects with loads of top 20-60 offers visit Tulane or say we were in their top 5.

This may seem like nothing to most of you but kids like the two kids listed in that article - we have not had kids with those types of other offers visit our campus or seriously look at us in over a decade.

I am sure you may get a fan or two pop up in here and rattle some names of decent players we have had in that time but the facts are that 99% of them did not leave high school with decent offers like these kids have. We are used to going up against state school community college for the blind (no offense intended) for basketball players.

Call this an exaggeration, that is fine but we are beginning to at least gain interest from guys that were once "out of or league"

Now if we could just sign 1-2 of them. Especially a true PF or C we would be in business. We have decent guard play, really need to rebounding and rim protectors.

Just our presence in this conference should get us several high profile visits in the fall.
How about we save this until we actually sign one of these guys.
And if Conroy can't sign Evans, it's hopeless with him as coach.

Tulane is getting three and four star recruits to visit only as a courtesy to our new assistant coach and a chance to see New Orleans. The Tulane men's basketball coach from the Citadel our 5 choice after we were turned down by four is a loser. He cannot recruit or coach. His best players leave him and the team for other schools. He brings in bottom feeders for non conference games even lower than Tulane. Fire him now with our AD.

Savacool, I can tell you that most people close to Evans expects him to sign with Tulane. The hiring of Quannis White has definitely helped recruiting, but Evans was high on Tulane even before the hiring.

Savacool is can appreciate your cynicism based on last decade. But conroy is a good coach. His hurdles are being mitigated by the new assistants he hired and the conference we are in. We are on the upswing.

If he does sign I will apologize and purchase mid court Tulane side TAF season tickets.

And Jacob Evans will sign with Cincy.

Really, we hire his AAU coach and Conroy STILL can't him.

We have one other 4 star looking at us...this one from the midwest. See if we can turn the tables.

Tulane needs to find a David Pierce caliber coach for Men's Basketball.

Evans was probably a tough miss for you guys, but I can say that UC was going after him very aggressively for a while. UC recruits by getting in on guys early, which helped pull Evans out from the south. Having a well established, successful program makes things a lot easier.

You guys just entered this conference, so don't overreact. I think recruiting for Tulane basketball will really improve from the AAC. Stay the course.

I agree with all of that, but the fact remains that the Conroy era has veered between "meh" and facepalm-embarrassing for most of the time since he got here.
