Wounded Warrior Project under fire?
http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/20...-fire.html

In interviews, critical veterans’ advocates and veterans charged that the Wounded Warrior Project cares more about its image than it does about helping veterans; that it makes public splashes by taking vets on dramatic skydiving trips but doesn’t do enough to help the long-term wellbeing of those injured in combat.

Thats why my charitable contributions go to either my church, no kill animal shelters, and specific children's charities. That said, the WWP is still probably doing more for veterans that Obama is.

Dear Gawd you're dumber than a box of hammers. I certainly hope you're better at karate than you are at forming an original thought.

I have a problem with any "charity" that advertises heavily on TV, especially national TV.

There are sites (eg. Charity Navigator) where you can get the IRS 990 information that shows exactly how much money is used to administrate and fund raise, versus the amount going to the specific services.

Wounded Warrior spends 36% on advertising and 58% on services. That is a bad ratio.

I've seen some of the "police association" fund raisers that have less than 20% on services.

Never hurts to make sure your money is being well used. I've posted before that I support the BISON Fund, that provides scholarships (private vouchers) to inner city kids to go to private schools. Their services expenses are an outstanding 92.5%.

It's never over but at least we aren't using thousands of ground troops anymore.

Excellent advice.

Personally I prefer to give to local charities. The only national one I give to is the Red Cross, and that is primarily because of what I have seen them do for people who were burned out of their homes and for the times during major incidents when they would come in and assist us with food, warming/cooling tents, etc. They truly don't get the support and recognition they deserve.

You actually buying this?

A. We've got thousand + on the ground NOW. Every day getting closer to "thousands", but I wouldn't expect you to know that.

B. If you knew anything about history 03-lmfao you would know that this is precisely the way the war in Vietnam trundled along. It's only a matter of time before we are using ground forces (I refuse to use "boots on the..." BS) not only back in Iraq but in Syria as well.

Funny, the escalation will begin shortly after the mid-term elections coming up. You watch.

For example, the “redder” a particular state is (i.e., the more its voters support Republican candidates in elections), the likelier its residents are to be charitable. According to Brooks, fully 24 of the 25 most generous states were red ones (only Maryland was a charitably minded blue, or Democrat-supporting, state). Residents of the five states that cast more than 60 percent of their ballots for President Bush in 2004 gave 3.5 percent of their incomes to charity, nearly twice as much per person as residents of the five states (including the District of Columbia) where Democrat John Kerry received 60 percent of the vote or better. This, says Brooks, occurred even though residents of the deep-blue pro-Kerry states earned, on average, 38 percent more per household than their red-state counterparts.
