How Do You Watch College Football On TV...?
This will be a small sample size poll, but I was wondering how fans here watch a typical college football game on TV...?

Do you put the game on and never switch the channel for 3 hours...?
Or change it only at halftime?
At the end of each quarter?
Every commercial break?

Basically, I'm wondering if you tend to surf to other sporting events during breaks in the action. I tend to flip around a lot to different sports channels during most commercial breaks.

You can vote for more than one item.

I only change the channel at halftime. But that's because I watch ESPN3, which takes forever to change the channel. If I had cable, I'd change every commercial break (and I'd also be $1000 poorer every year).

Hell, sometimes I'll turn it in the middle of a drive, or even a play.

Most times I DVR record and start watching 45 minutes after the start and eventually catch up.

Sometimes I watch live and play on my smart phone during comercials posting on message boards.

Sometimes I watch live and switch back and forth between 2 games.

Sometimes I watch live and switch back and forth between the game and a movie.

sometimes I go to a bar.

rarely do I just watch the commercial.

It really depends, so I selected other.

If I am watching just to be watching a football game and there are other games I switch at commercials, or when the game gets boring.

If the game interests me I tend to only switch at halftime.

If it is a game I have a rooting interest in I don't switch at all.

RE: How Do You Watch College Football On TV...?
This is a great question. Here's my strategy.

For each time frame, I'll decide which 2 or 3 games are the ones I want to watch. If it's two, I can easily jump back and forth using the "Last" button.

As the games unwind, I'll start to favor the one I consider most entertaining, dropping a blowout or other game for which I've lost interest.

Any game that is close in the final quarter, I'll stick with it.

I'll flip during commercials and time the return to my first choice.

When games are staggered (7PM & 8:15), I'll usually switch at the half. So I watch the Nessler/Blackledge feed til the half, switch to Fowler/Herbstreit (or maybe Fox) 'til their half, then back to N/B 'til its end.

If there is a close call on what game to watch, I'll break the tie with the announcers. Eg. I'd watch Nessler over Fowler.

Even though I'm the master of Pickem, I don't use my picks as a reason to watch a game. And since I don't have a favorite team (per se) that isn't an issue in game selection.

I watch one game, start to finish on whatever
bootleg internet feed I can get working that day.

I follow scores of other games (usually through GameCast) via an iPad Mini.

Unless there is a game that I have some vested interest in, I'm switching even during drives unless the game is interesting.

Just depends. If there is one game only I'm interested in I stick with that, but more times than not there are multiple games of interest so I flip around.

I often have one game on the big HD screen and another on my laptop and a third on my phone.

This. With upwards of ten games on at any given time during the day, I'm like an fiend always searching for the next play.

Just fyi, this dumb **** is using this to prove that the Big East should keep it's NYE marathon, that it won't be enveloped by the college football playoff in 8 of the next 12 years, or the NFL in 2 of the others.

RE: How Do You Watch College Football On TV...?
I sit down with my newspaper (yes, I’m old school) and prioritize the games. Obviously, I try to support the American Conference as much as I can. The “must see” games are the ones that I watch live (if I can) along with backup games (if the “must see” games are boring or a blowout). Other than the “must see” games, I record the other games that I’m interested in and only watch the games that were competitive (I have the Genie and a DVR). I fast forward to a team having the ball around the 50 yard line and watch. If the team punts, I watch the return (if there is one) and then fast forward to the other team having around the 50 yard line. This allows me to watch most of the recorded games that were competitive….

I use 2 HDTV's and sometimes iPad to move among the 8-10 games that are available at any time. Try never to watch AAC games.

Depends on the game. Last Saturday, I was watching at least 4 games at once during the 3:30 window, switching after plays, not commercials. At 8 pm I stuck to ND-SU without channel surfing.

RE: How Do You Watch College Football On TV...?
During East Carolina games the channel does not change for anything and if anyone tries to change the channel they are shunned.
IF ECU isn't playing this is what happens.
Noon games will try to find the best match up and change it during commercial breaks and half time. Near the fourth quarter I will try to watch the closes games first and see great endings but most of the time noon games are blow outs.
I will watch the 3:30 CBS SEC game as my main game, then change during some commercial breaks and I usually watch some of the half time show.
Night game usually watch the best game on (usually been drinking and the channel doesn't change much plus eating during this time messes up watching the game).

Then on Sunday I just go on ESPN.com and check all the scores for the week. If I miss a game I miss a game there is no reason to watch something I already know the score to.

When East Carolina has a home game I usually miss all the games for the day and just check the scores on Sunday might catch the last of the 3:30 or 7/8 o'clock games depending on the Pirates kickoff time.
