The only way it would be WVU is if the government stepped in again, to force the issue, and I doubt that would happen, and don't think they should, to boot. Hey, we had our chances, and we blew it. We played them 7 times. Led in the 4th quarter twice (our first game in WVU and in Doc's first season -- I prefer to block that last one out, for all time) but we couldn't seal the deal. This series even caused family dysfunction, so I'm not all that sorry to see it go.
If you can't put up to back the talk, you really should keep quiet. Hey, if a miracle did happen and we won a WVU game, the legislature would probably just give more money to WVU to soothe their wounds, anyway.
So...go Herd...go Mountaineers! I like it better when you don't play. I'd love to see either Pitt, Maryland, or Cincinnati on a H+H

There just isn't any reason for this to be real.
Yeah, we had a home and home 2 game series with them in '75 and '76. We won both of the games, with the first one being an opening game upset of Shug Jordan's last team. Without looking it up, I'm pretty sure that UAB holds a better winning % over us than Alabama or Auburn where we're 1-2 and 2-0 respectively.

I have no desire to ever play WVU. I can't stand the Mountaineers. Just stating the game would not happen.

From the outside looking in; I think that Marshall ought to play WVA every year! You guys are the only FBS schools in your state and the rich history of your program (arguably best in CUSA see also Southern Miss and Rice) should be prominently displayed whenever possible!

Most Marshall fans would love to play Kentucky, the thing is we have been trying to get a game with them since we have moved up and they keep putting us on hold till we hang up. So most likely that game will never happen.
If its not an SEC team then I hope it is Pitt. If not someone like Boston College, Syracuse or VA Tech. All four of those would be sell outs in Huntington and would be winnable.
If it's South Carolina, good luck getting the return game. We had a 2-2 with a game in Charlotte I believe. They've yet to come with 2 games left and one scheduled in Williams-Brice. We'll see.

Question for Marshall fans. I know ECU and Marshall have a home and home football games out in the future. Any chance Marshall would want to play ECU OOC for basketball as well? We have had some good and physical games while in CUSA and I know both teams have a hard time getting teams to want to play home and home series in basketball.

I am sure we would, but we are rebuilding. It's going to take awhile for Marshall B-ball to be competitive.

Same here. I wish Hamrick would tell them to #$@# off with the basketball schedule too. Marshall beats the crap out of the Who in Volleyball and Tennis. The Who has won one meeting in the last 15 years in volleyball and one meeting in the last 17 years in tennis. Truth is Im surprised that they haven't taken their ball and go home in those 2 sports.

Difference there is no one cares about those sports. Like the womens basketball game vs wvu. They have tried everything to get people to attend that game. Making it a doubleheader included for free, its own night before included for free etc. 1000 fans show up for that one. Hardly anyone cares about any college sport but football and mens basketball.

Don't lump your opinion with what you think everyone else thinks. I give more to the Spikers than I do to the tipoff club. Maybe if Dan turns this mess around that might change, but as of right now it hasn't. I watch all of Marshall's sports from Football to Softball.

And the attendance fr those sports? Come on man. Dont live in delusions. Hardly anyone cares about those sports. Maybe 98% of people dont care. Those are more accurate than "no one" i guess. Meant to write that on the top line as well, but the bottom line of my post is true.

Have you ever been to Sam Hood Field, The Dot or even the new soccer stadium the seats are usually filled up and they are "sellouts" if you could call them that. As a student I loved going to all the other sports, I wish more would expand their horizons and attend instead of this is not a "popular" sport so I won't go mentality.

People do care about the other sports. Maybe our less intelligent fans don't but that's a problem they have.

He's right. You guys could beat us in Vball, Tennis and swimming for the rest of eternity and I wouldn't give a crap. I literally didn't know you guys dominated us in those sports and I'm not even mad.

He probably has no idea that our softball team has been to the CUSA championship the last 3 years or that our tennis team is usually nationally ranked in the top 50.

Im aware. But i realize that no body cares. I thought softball had been just to the last 2, though. Tennis team is always good, has been for years. Been to several games at dot hicks as i was frends with a member of the softball team a few years back. Never been to soccer game (a sport i would rather do math than watch) but i have never heard of it being full in attendance. It is not a bad thing, its just what it is. See the poster above, he didnt know or care, and you have to think, these boards are full of the most dedicated and hardcore fans out there, and you sre still in the minority of who cares. Pretty sure all that will happen is you et laughed at when talking "lets play tennis/softball/soccer" smack...
And now the cast majority of sports fans are "not intelligent" because we dont care for sports that are basically required due to title 9? Thats awesome.

I agree about mens/womens basketball and baseball, but not sure either school would want to the travel for Olympic sports; maybe softball?
I plan to come back for the next football game up in Huntington. When I make the trip, we seem to win haha. Not sure when that game will be but would be nice if it was later in the season in November to have a day football game between ECU/Marshall and night basketball game between ECU/Marshall. Sure that would be impossible logistically though.

I wouldn't think that Ohio State would be beyond the realm of possibility...not sure they'd come, but it'd be fun... Tennessee and Miami (FL) bought their return games out if I'm not mistaken...
