I think I got it.

??? He was cleared to play by the team doctors. What don't you understand about that?
Walt -- I understand that to mean exactly what it says. Being cleared to play does not mean that playing is in the best interest of the player.

Once again a former Rice coach's move to greener pastures (John Reagan) is probably being second-guessed. I understand certain moves but sorry, the writing should have been on that wall a long time.

They made their DC the interim, instead of John Reagan.

I agree. It didn't take a crystal ball to know that Charlie's days were numbered. And hard to imagine that Reagan will survive the transition when the new HC comes on board.

I wish Reagan the best, but (surprisingly to me) I have liked Edmondson much more. My only complaint with him generally has been some questionable playcalls in 4-down territory (edge of or just outside FG range). Had another one yesterday, 1st drive of the 2nd half, Rice had 3rd-and-5 from the SoMiss 42. Seemed like an ideal spot to run Davis up the gut twice in a row with a quick snap if he doesn't get the 1st down on the 1st try. Instead DJ gets sacked for a 6-yd loss and Rice punts. But outside of that one situation (that admittedly has been a problem in every game this year), Edmondson has been much better than Reagan and is not the reason Rice has underperformed.

Of course, I would take ruowls in a heartbeat;-)

i too questioned some calls, and using my personal judgment as the yardstick, Edmondson made bad play calls about 15-20%of the time.

of course, I guess it is barely possible I am using the wrong yardstick.

The call I didn't like was the TO before the USM FG., IF it was for icing. If it was to preapre the D for a possible fake, I applaud it.

WSU comes back to upset Utah by a point. Aargh - the Pirate strikes again.

The Pirate is beating P5 teams with what cannot possibly be a deep or robust talent pool.

Leach thinks differently about at least one of his players http://www.insidesocal.com/ucla/2014/07/...arterback/

It didn't exactly help SMU (whether Jones stepped aside or was pushed aside).
