Curious. Why do you call it a Top25 then release a ranking of 30 teams?

We have had a good number of people that requested a list of others receiving votes, I should just list the next 5 and the vote count, but this was easy.

LA Tech's FCS loss had a big impact on votes for this Poll.

Don't get me wrong, I like ODU for the most part, but I honestly believe that they are ranked too high at this time. Just because Rice is the reigning conference champ from last year, beating them this year is not that great of a badge of honor. However, their true tests are beginning this week.

Fully agree. And I love the Monarchs. We could easily lose the next 3 or 4. We have three wins, and I'd consider it a great season with five wins considering we are still a transition team.

sarkelcpa, just wanted to respond so you can have a better understanding of our G5 Poll. All polls can be very fluid and can change dramatically from week to week, look at LA Tech from last week. I think those voting on our G5 poll are very astute to the ebb and flow of the complexities of ranking football teams. I think our poll and the evaluation of those voting have represented a good reflection of each week’s results. We have a nice cross section of voters from east to west and I am impressed with the voting results. Not to say it is perfect, but, I am certainly impressed and proud of what we have accomplished. We have had inquiries from ESPN, Fox Sports NBC asking questions and interest in our results. I have also noticed that other polls have appeared to be more regionalized. Today’s poll results will be different than next week and the outcome of future games and matchups will be reflected in those future polls.

ODU's rank may be higher or lower than your perception. The same maybe true of many other teams on the poll. Everyone is a reflection of daily information that helps them formulate the way they may vote on this poll and future polls. That is why the best polls are made up of a variety of people from many different regions, schools and teams. That is what makes this poll a good reflection for the best rankings. Unlike many polls that may have ONLY 1 person or just a few that rank teams from a very narrow prospective.

I appreciate your comment, just my thoughts. I am looking forward to the team matchups in the next few weeks so the picture will be less obscured.

Respectfully,

Thank you for your explanation. Please understand it is not an indictment against your poll as much as it is trying to understand a meteoric rise based upon wins over substandard opponents.

Hey sarkelcpa, I love the fact that you have opened this up for discussion. Respectfully I submit that this is your opinion and you have based this off experiences that are unique to you. As you digest and evaluate your placement for ranking the 63 - G5 teams and which are the most deserving teams is a conclusion that is formed from your perceptions. In your opinion, ODU has played substandard opponents, that may in fact be the case. You are entitled to that evaluation or opinion. My point is everyone makes evaluations based on their unique perception. There are voters that dramatically differ in their opinions up and down the entire poll. I am not questioning your opinion, my explanation was to relate to you why 36 voters can perceive, evaluate and have diverse evaluation standards. There is no equation that will produce the same results from every voter. I find it actually refreshing to see that we are not all the same and just placing a "cookie cutting poll" from our voters. I know when the poll comes out every Thursday it causes me to pause and question the way I analyze each team and how I vote. I hope and I am sure that is the same response almost every member has when they see each week’s poll. The reality is any dialogue between all of us regarding the poll will make us more aware of how we vote. I would love to have even more discussion from a greater number of voters, I think it will only improve the poll. I appreciate your comments and concerns; it is the best way for us all to make more thought provoking dialogue and voting.

Respectfully,

03-old

RE: Week 4 Group of Five Top 25 poll (Sept 19-20, 2014
As a voter, i've found this to be a much more difficult process than I thought it would be at first. But I'm taking my role seriously and trying to vote for where teams, from my perspective, land in the poll. More than once, after I've listed my teams first on an Excel spreadsheet I keep for this purpose, along with results from games each week, I've changed relative positions because of head to head match ups, strength of schedule and quality of opponent. But I'm sure my poll submission is a little different than any one of the other 35 voters. Things seemingly are coalescing at the top 5 or so, but it's VERY fluid at any point below those top 5, right now.

But I do hope you are enjoying the poll as much as I'm enjoying participating.

I may analyze my vote somewhat like a geek but I've voted where I believe each team should be in the pole. Obviously I root for Georgia Southern but I try to be realistic in its position rather than vote them #1 to increase their position. I've read how some posters use their vote as a weapon against another conference.

Anyway, I'm impressed with the website and I enjoy talking to all the other fans around the nation. This is a great sport, isn't it?

Was there a Tulsa vote party I missed? Curious as to what the thoughts were for this.

Also pretty cool that ESPN, NBC, and a FOX have asked about the results.

How does Tulsa jump 19 spots and claim the number 30 spot? They just had a bye week, and lost their last game to FAU by a score of 50-21. Maybe teams out of the top 25 should just be grouped together as receiving votes.

To be honest, i think the poll could be just top 10 or top 15 teams. Once you get to 20, ?? its hard to put any of those teams on there honestly. 25 of a 60ish team field is tough. The bottom of the poll is not very good. And not a lot of seperation from the others.

why are we complaining about this? This person is doing a great job, the voters are doing a great job. This is for entertainment purposes and gives you a feel of what others are thinking.
