RE: Highest MAC Rankings in Final AP Poll
2003 was a heck of year for the MAC. Miami (13-1), BG(11-3), NIU(10-2) with Toledo and Marshall 8-4 each (IIRC) beating ranked opponents (Pittsburgh & K-State respectively) during the year. College game day at BG hosting undefeated NIU. At least 4 ranked BCS teams beaten by MAC teams.

15 Bowling Green (Wk10) 2003
11-3...Lost to Miami twice and defending national champs OSU (24-17), beat two B10 teams, a ranked Purdue and NW in a bowl.

12 Northern Illinois (Wks7&8) 2003 Lost at BG (ESPN college game day at BG).
NIU 10-2 no bowl with 3 BCS wins including Alabama, Maryland(rated at the time, I think) and Wake.

HIGHEST AP RANKING MAJOR COLLEGE BY TEAM

12 Ball State (Wk14) 2008
15 Bowling Green (Wk10) 2003
23 Central Michigan (Final) 2009
18 Kent State (Wk13) 2012

12 Northern Illinois (Wks7&8) 2003
15 Ohio (Wk12) 1968
12 Toledo (Final) 1970

RE: Highest MAC Rankings in Final AP Poll
2003 was a year I never imagined could happen for the MAC and one I doubt I'll ever see again.

2012 was a year I never imagined could happen for a MAC team (going to the ORANGE BOWL, are you kidding me!!) and one I doubt I'll ever see again.

RE: Highest MAC Rankings in Final AP Poll
BCS rankings had NIU as high as #10 and they beat a ranked Maryland team (around 15) and #21 Alabama.
