UCF Leading WR Rannell Hall Suspended for the 1st Half against Houston
Second half targeting call against Bethune-Cookman upheld by the league office.

It's not going to matter.

At least he'll be rested for the 2nd half.

It's okay, we run 3 runs into the middle of the line the entire first half of games anyways. We only start throwing in the 2nd half. Will miss speedy in the return game more than anything.

Between Perriman, Worton, Reese, Williams, Stanback and now Akins there are still more mouths to feed then there is high level QB play. I'd expect Reese or Akins to play a big role in the first half.

To be fair, we also run slowly developing sweeps as well.

I'd be more happy if he was on the defense side of the ball as we need all the help we can get on offense :).

In all seriousness, hope he learns his lesson and plays well the rest of the season for UCF.

Typical offensive plan for UCF not down by 14:

1st down: Sweep gaining 2 yards.
2nd down: Run up the middle to gain 1 yard.

We're now 3rd and 7....

3rd down: Run up the middle for 2 yards.
4th down: Punt

I don't know why we can't throw the ball unless we have a huge deficit to make up.

Obviously this is the year of our lord 1995 and you can't start throwing it if you haven't Established the Run.

It sounds even less intelligent when you realize that the backup RB has been on the field as much as the starter. Stanback was a scratch week one, didn't start week 3 and has 30 carries to Wilson's 29 (2.13 yd avg) for the year.

It's not like the days of yore, we have zero power running game but continue to try to establish it. Also, using the pass to setup the run is also a foreign concept.

Is this some kind of reverse psychology trick to keep Stanback from getting carries?

For better or for worse Oleary will live and die by establishing a running game. His brain cannot comprehend passing on first down until he is behind by 3 touchdowns in the 4th quarter.

And it's gotten us a 38-15 record with three bowl wins over the last four seasons. There is a method to the madness, but it can be painful to watch sometimes.

Sounds like someone missed a lot of Blake Bortles games...your loss.

PS. O'Leary doesn't call offensive plays.

In KnightLand, the was it Blake? or was it GOL? is the new Chicken or the Egg. All I do know is that he was 23-8 when Blake had more than 10 passing attempts and is 49-50 when Blake had 10 or less and the other guys. Seems to me like Blake's ability is/was the biggest factor and everything else is opinion.

I like GOL's toughness and he really does make pro ready guys, which is a huge plus, but whether it is him or Taaffe calling the plays it is inconsequential. He is the head coach. It's not good/smart football to run the same play over and over and that is what we are doing right now. We are playing into the hands of the opponent every single game, which to me is ludicrous. This is my personal definition of insanity.

No. They're scared to death of your tight ends too. And your kicking specialists.

Welcome to your nightmare then, because we're going to run Wilson into the LOS on 1st and 2nd, then dump the ball off to our TEs way behind the 1st down marker. To top it all off, we'll punt the ball away with one of our kicking specialist.

This thread is bringing back fond memories of the "The Getting Pecked To Death By Duck" offense ("... getting beat by ECU is like getting pecked to death by a duck," our opponents would say) that Skip had in place during his tenure in Greenville.

He won with it just like George has done in in Orlando. TDBPD Offense sure beat the hell out of the "Stockstill Stand Still Offense" and the "Noah Kevorkian Assisted Suicide Offense" that we had in place under the coach who's name shall not be said aloud.
