Week 5 - gag me
Is this the worst week's schedule of games EVER?
There's not one "must see" game this week. The only top 25 match-up is Thursday night.
Think I'll take my grandkids for pumpkins on Saturday.

RE: Week 5 - gag me
You don't need to have Top 25 vs Top 25 to have interesting games.
1. Arkansas vs Texas AM -- let's see how good Arkansas really is. This will be a great game to watch in what it reveals.
2. Missouri vs S Carolina -- How good/medicore is Missouri? I think they're decent. Good game to watch.
3. Stanford vs Wash -- Washington's undefeated despite being unreanked. A nice PAC12 game to watch.
4. Oregon St vs USC -- Oregon St's undefeated. USC lost to BC, which needed the 2nd half to solidly beat UMass? Hmmmmm, this sparks curiosity!
5. Cincinnati vs Ohio State -- VaTech which flopped twice already beat OSU. This is an in-state game. How good is Cinci? They only played two games. Let's find out!
B10 Fans:
1. Iowa @Purdue -- Purdue seems to have improved somewhat, at least. Iowa? Wow. Shocker. This will be interesting to see what happens.
2. Maryland @Indiana -- Okay, Indiana, you beat Missouri. Do you have enough to protect the B1G from a new-comer? How good is Maryland anyway? Better than BGSU? :)
3. Minnesota @ UM -- This one should be interesting. Mediocre B10 team faces UM -- can UM get their morale up? How is Hoke going to respond? Or the whole team? I think UM will win BIG -- but let's find out, right?
MAC LOVERS:
1. WMU @ VaTech -- Okay, interesting only to check out for non-WMU fans, but still. WMU never scored a point against VaTech. WMU looks on their way up from last year's laughable season. Can PJ Fleck challenge VaTech, who's 2-2 and looking to take their anger out on WMU? We shall see. If WMU were to pull the upset, that'll give ECU a big hit on their biggest "win" of the season. Even a mild hit if WMU makes it a pretty close game.
2. Akron @ Pitt -- The spread's 20 points, which is way too high if Akron is the team they're supposed to be this year. Last year, Akron almost beat UM. Akron hasn't impressed this year, losing to Penn State (relatively close most of the game) and big to Marshall at home. But can Bowden point Akron toward where they're supposed to be? Pitt lost to Iowa -- and isn't an impressive team. Fear the Roo! I want to see how good Akron REALLY is.
3. CMU @ Toledo -- CMU has their star RB & WR back. This may be the team that THUMPED Purdue 2nd week of the season and not the one stomped by Syracuse at home & losing @Kansas. Toledo was the pre-season favorite by many in the MAC West, but Toledo's shaky on discipline and turning yards into points. And their D kinda sucks in the air, but has good potential against ground games. This is a very important MAC West game!

I'll throw out a homer selection:
Friday night on Fox Sports 1
Middle Tennessee @ ODU
As always for Old Dominion a sold out crowd and should be a shootout.

RE: Week 5 - gag me
I definitely wish I still had the BTN for that Ohio State and Cincy match up. Cincy looks good this year. Ohio State needs this win very much.
I don't know how good USF is. I am sure they probably have some speed on that team though and so I am looking forward to seeing Wisconsin continue to show strength and the ability to match up. This is another big game for the Big Ten that a top Big Ten team needs to play for another blow out, not just another win.
I think folks need to watch that Florida State vs NC State AT NC State. The Wolfpack seems to have a thing for FSU. When they come into town, the Pack gets hungry. Upset alert after all that drama and emotional high for FSU last week.
The Duke at Miami game is on ESPN 2. That could end up being an important game in the divisional hunt.
The Baylor AT Iowa State game is also another one to watch. It is a late start at Ames and that crowd is gonna be nuts. ISU has some recent history of upsetting the dreams of some of their top ranked fellow Big 12 teams.

How does USF look? Fast? Athletic? Perhaps not all that well coached but do they have some guys with raw ability?
I am just curious as to how they can test and help Wisky improve.

RE: Week 5 - gag me
I don't care one bit what you all are doing this weekend. I'll be in Columbus to watch us play a national powerhouse for the first time in 2 years. Even better, they're down this year, so we have a chance (just like against VT 2 years ago).
I'm super-pumped. As someone said on our boards, "let's kick their ass and then be awful sports about it."

Interesting if you wonder if Barrett is a viable QB. (Although I do hope Tuberville gets the win.)

RE: Week 5 - gag me
Personally, I like the overall slate of games this week. No, there aren't any glamor top-10 matchups, but that's OK with me. Games I will definitely catch some of:
UCLA @ Arizona State (Thursday)
USF @ Wisconsin (yes, objectively an awful game, but my school)
Tennessee @ Georgia
Arkansas vs TAMU
Stanford @ Washington
Cincy @ Ohio State
Mizzou @ South Carolina
Memphis @ Ole Miss
Oregon State @ USC

I think it is too early to tell either way. If he wants to show his face on campus, he better not lose to Cinci though.

I'm pretty sure OSU didn't even play any in-state schools between 1934 (Western Reserve) and 1992 (Bowling Green). Even those were aberrations - they were the only games between 1932-1996.

Any weekend slate of college football games is good for me. I don't require a bunch of ESPN hype to find interesting games - but that's just me. College football is my favorite..............
